I just got into BP shooting about a year and a half, maybe two ago and bought 6 revolvers to try the sport out. I chose 4 Colt-type revolvers and 2 Remingtons ( a full size and a 5 1/2") All the revolvers are bone stock with the only exception that one is a CVA and one is a Uberti.
If all the sessions at the range, I have never seen one of the fancy full custom engraved revolvers or even one with an action job.
Do shooters ever spend the money to buy customised actions and various states of tune?
I have seen smokeless revolvers and even single actions that were "tuned" for (CAS) Some were pretty nicely finished and some were smooth as silk!
How come you don't see this level of "love" put into BP revolvers?

Mine is tuned, action job, line bored, one oz. trigger pull, garnteed to shoot
dime size groups at 50 yds. Cost as is 900.00

ZVP, I don't think you've read all the posts on this site and others about slicking up and tuning bp revolvers. It is an art form many of us practice and those with out the tools spend good $$ on having done. I for one, for all the work I've put into it, would put my Rogers & Spencer up against any professionally tuned gun. By the way, kwhi43, a 1oz trigger pull is extremely dangerous, are you sure you don't mean 1 lb or something in between? In the pic, my shooter is on the bottom, the top is an original R&S.

I customize almost all my guns, they are personal items. I polished the sear on my 1858 Remington so it has less creep to it, and now the trigger pull is nice and smooth! I also built my rifle from a kit, so i guess you could call it a custom gun! I made a converter for my flintlock so I can shoot it as a caplock. I got the Idea from Kwhi43, the design is really simple but works perfectly :) I also added a patchbox within the last few months to make myself shoot more patched round balls. It's working, I think they are my favorite projectile. i can also throw a decent load of shot out of it, i have only fired shot a couple of times but it does seem to work with paper wads, it gets about as much pepper on target as a .410, so I think it's worth doing again. I am going to do some further experimentation on shot loads from a rifle, and see if I can get some decent results.

I have no "fancy guns"; just tuned and timed shooters that have served me well for decades....Most of the folks I've encountered in this forum have at one point or another, tuned up their revolvers, but do not make it an issue to go into details. I can only presume that is due to the fact that, like many of us, we'd rather shoot than talk about the everyday smoothing out of their weapons. Plus, I've never seen engraving make a weapon shoot better. That's my take on this matter as I see it.

I ended up selling this 1858 after I owned it for a few years, because it had never been fired and was too nice to shoot; that's all real gold. I sold it and got a 1911 that i shoot often instead :) no regrets there

I wish I had the money to buy this next one, but I helped a friend sell it. He inherited it and needed the money badly. I was at least able to find it a very good home. Again that's all 24k gold inlay, and it's an actual Colt.

On the 1 oz. thing. It in all actual reality from 1 oz to mebby 3 oz. All the
pistols we use are around the 1 oz. My 13 year old says she perfers it. She
was shooting 1oz triggers when she was 10. Thats just what we are use to.
I know it's not for everybody, so be very careful out there. Here she is shooting
her pistol with a 1 oz trigger at the Nationals at Friendship last year

I have spent MANY hours on the inside of my black powder cowboy guns making them as slick and well functioning as possible.

I meant out at thr "Range". You never see a slicked-up BP revolver. It's loke they are all somewhere else than in Central Calif!
I'm sure there are some fine tuners onthis site, Ya just never shoot at my club...
