Unfortunately nothing will ever happen since the government, much like police and judges take care of their own.
It is unfortunate but if you shoot somebody accidentally and kill them you get several years in prison. If a police officer accidentally shoots the wrong guy all they do is lose their badge and maybe serve a month or so of jail time.
