Fastest Way to Load your Ruger MKII Mags

Anothe person posted in a thread about this thing, but I thought it deserved it's own thread. This thing loads your mags faster than you can take the mag out of your gun. Push the mag into the slot and the rounds fall into the mag. I was using that little red thumb thingy, but this is soooo much better. The one thing I noticed while using it was not to use exposed lead rounds. The lead seemed to gum up the innards and the rounds wouldn't drop in, but I took it apart and cleaned it and now copper coated rounds just slide in. Anway, this thing has made loading my Ruger mags a breeze.

I sort of like loading one at a time ... gives me time to settle down and think about what I was doing wrong and what I should do to correct it.
It was rough on the thumb until I got one of those plastic thumb savers that slips over the mag.

Hmm.....was thinking about ordering one until I read your problem with exposed lead bullets. I mainly shoot Wolf Match Target in my slabside and these rounds have a wax coated lead bullet. Have you tried these in it?

I haven't had a problem using standard lead .22s in mine (Winchester and Federal); if your rounds have a HEAVY wax coating on them, I can see where it might gum up over time. The only real "problem" I've ever had with mine is that an extra round can sometimes pop past the detent ball in the loader, and it ends up dropping onto the bench; just drop it back in the hopper, and keep on going.

I shoot Wolf MT when I can get it. Works just fine but you do need to take the loader apart every couple bricks for a wipe down with a paper towel. I found the lube actually helps with loading, but make sure you clean it once you see it starting to slow down.

In addition to all three flavors of Wolf, I've loaded Rem and Federal Bulk, Federal and American Eagle lead RN, Win Target, Win Super-X, Wildcats and PowerPoints, Rem Thunderbolts, Federal Gold Match, Ely Silhouette and Target and a few others, both exposed lead and copper plated, RN and HP. The only problem I have is with 40gr PowerPoints; they're a bit long and require a bit of pumping the mag to get to load (it takes 10 seconds instead of 5 to load a mag).

Disassembly is simply a half-dozen screws that hold the two halves together. Don't do as I once did and try to take the easy route out by spraying brake cleaner into the gizmo (I know, what was I thinking?). Fortunately, Brownells shipped a new one fast.

The gumming up was after about 2000rnds of Winchester Dynapoint and 550 rounds of Winchester Wildcat. It was probably due for a cleaning. Coupla screws and the two pieces separate. Easy to clean. I think a little teflon oil and it slicked everything up good.
