How do we teach people not to do these stupid thing? Here is the story:

VIRGINIA BEACH — A father was charged Monday with accidentally shooting his 2-year-old daughter while apparently playing with a gun, police said. The girl suffered minor injuries.

Jered Dean Grisham, 23, was arrested at about 8:30 p.m. on Monday and charged with felony child endangerment and reckless handling of a firearm, police spokeswoman Rene Ball said .

The charges stem from an incident Saturday evening, when rescue workers were called to the family’s home in the 700 block of Aylesbury Drive to respond to a child with a gunshot wound.

Police questioned Grisham and believe he was spinning the gun on his finger when it went off, Ball said. The girl was taken to the hospital, treated for a minor graze wound to her legs and then released.

Grisham is being held without bond in the city jail.

Boy, MENSA missed out on him.

Sadly, it's probably not the last dumb thing he'll do to endanger the life of his kid.

Should say:

Police questioned Grisham and believe he was spinning the gun on his finger when he pulled the trigger and fired the gun, Ball said.

I'm tired of people saying "it went off". It didn't "go off". Guns don't "go off" by themselves. Someone has to pull the trigger.

Sterilization for him so he won't endanger any more children, foster care for her, so she will have a responsible adult to protect her.

Maybe if we find his address and all write, telling him how stupid he is, he may wake up! We don't do that enough in our world. People don't like being called stupid. If we acknowledge their stupidity, when displayed in a stupid act such as this, maybe they will get tired of being called stupid and turn their brain back on. Until then, the judge should hang a sign around his neck that says "DANGER, DUMB#*% APPROACHING!"

We can't. There are more fools than we can possibly get to -- we are vastly outnumbered. :banghead:

"Sadly, it's probably not the last dumb thing he'll do to endanger the life of his kid."

It's also ironic that no doubt someone will call for licensing of firearms owners, but no one will call for the licensing of parents. (No, I don't favor either type of license.)

I hope he gets some brain fluid while he is in the shop!

Tragedies like this one came wipe out a lot of hard work quickly. You never see a news story about a safe experience with a firearm.

Sounds good to me.

Guns require a higher standard of care. If you think they're toys, you ought not to be playing with them.

And I guarentee, if you ask him, he will tell you "It's not my fault!"
Of course it isn't... it's the fault of the gun manufacturer for putting that trigger thing right inside the ring you use to twirl the gun :banghead:

His initial claim was that the was getting ready to go to the range, and he dropped the gun. Thereby causing it to fire. I still have not heard what type of gun it was.

What's the saying? Stupid is as Stupid does! :cuss: :cuss:

Where's Dorothy when you need her--sounds like the scarecrow still needs a brain...

Too bad he didn't shoot himself. He's 23 years old, young and dumb comes to mind. I guess he just likes playing cowboy.

Guns Never "Go Off" by Themselves

The mentality of the Anti crowd includes the sincere belief that a gun, left to its 'natural tendencies' will, from time to time, jump out of its enclosure and "Go Off" for no apparent reason.

Looks like that's what happened here. DAMN - I hate when that happens.
