I asked this question several months ago. Just thought I'd see if anything had changed. What's your .22LR ammo of choice? I still like CCI Mini-Mags. What's your favorite?

Depends what for.

For plinking, Federal Value Packs or American Eagle.
For target pistol matches, Federal Gold Medal Match or CCI Mini Mag solids.
For varmints, CCI Mini Mag HPs.

Comes out of this list; with all the variants , you are talking well over 50
diff boxes of ammo. From this list, you should find at least one, that your
22 will really like.

Anything eley, Aguila, Golden Eagle(all eley products)
anything cci
anything federal
anything winchester.
anything wolf(which is a lapua/sk product)
American Eagle, red box ( surprisingly cheap and good, for many 22's)
any federal bulk
any winchester bulk,
avoid cci bulk, too dirty.
AVOID ALL REMINGTON!!! Remington 22 ammo, is the NC STAR of 22 ammo,
and that just might be giving nc star a bad name... their orange box, and yellow box ammo can be fabulous... of course it is made by ELEY!!!!!

* plinking, warm-up, low-pressure paper-punching: Federal 36gr HV 550ct bulk
* target _practice_: Federal 330ct auto target
* target competition: RWS Target (Eley is more expensive, I can't tell the difference anymore)
* hunting: CCI Velocitor, no others - 40gr HP at a chronographed 1415fps from a 20.5" barrel (0.5" group scoped, rested at 50yds from CZ 452, and I was the limiting factor)

Sheepdog, what do you shoot Stingers out of?
The only gun I have that likes 'em is a 4" SP101 and they're spendy for paper, which is all that gun shoots at.

I really like the Winchester Xperts as well as the Winchester 333 packs. The reason I like them is I've tried several different kinds in my 10/22 and they are accurate and reliable. I see no point in paying more when these seem to work great for the most part.

I also like CCI Mini Mags but they are a lot more expensive than the bulk Winchesters.

The Federal bulk packs are pretty accurate for me but for some reason they want to stove pipe every couple rounds for me.

I like Winchester Super-X and Min-Mags. Federal Auto Match is good stuff, too.

I've never tried the Federal Auto Match stuff. I've said I was going to but never have. I do also like the Federal 510's and the Game Shoks or whatever hollow points also.

Fed 510's shoot the best in my favorite rifle, but all around mini mags are hard to beat.

Remington Golden Bullets, the 550 pack at Walmart. The cheapest stuff around and hotter than the cheap, bare lead, Federal.

I've never had any problems with these. Of course, I use them in a semi-auto pistol.

For anything semi auto I stick to Federal 550 round bulk packs. They seem to cycle everything pretty well and have fairly few duds. Not the most accurate but reliable.

For bolt rifles the trend seems to be Federal Champion. It is $15 a brick local and shoots real well in most of my rifles. I have never had good luck with much of the middle priced stuff. For some reason is doesn't seem to shoot any better than the Champion.

From there the real high priced stuff all seems to shoot well and it is a matter of what I can find or what goes on sale. I like most everything that is over $10 a box. None of it stands out as a bad performer. Tenex is my favorite though if I was offered a single ammo for free for life. Not sure the price is justified in most of my shooting but boy do groups look good after.

I think CCI is worth the extra few bucks over the cheap stuff. Ive never had a dud, split case, or any other inconsistency with CCI ammo.

But of the bulk stuff, ive had decent luck with Federal.

My 10/22 prefers Federal American Eagle 40 gr. over anything else, including Eley, although I haven't tried Wolf yet. I consider myself lucky because Fed. AE is about the cheapest thing around, but it was consistent enough to shoot Rifleman at an Appleseed shoot last summer.

CCI Blazers for plinking

SK Rifle Match for competition (they shoot better than either Eley or RWS from my current rifle.)

My rifle's favorite ammo is Eley Tenex. But, I can't afford to feed it a steady diet of $180.00 a brick ammo, I found that it also likes Federal 714 Target, and $25.00 a brick is a price I can stomach.
