Well, I'm sick of having this sweet Ruger Blackhawk in .45 colt and not having a set of dies. I'm too cheap to buy loaded ammo for it. I do have 48 pieces of de-primed brass, though it is not re-sized. It does chamber in the cylinder easily though. I am set up to load .45 acp however, and if my calculations are correct I can seat bullets with the 45 acp die. I have 200gr LSWC and 230gr LRN's, anybody have any recommendations or pet loads? I think I am going to try around 6.8gr bullseye to start with the 200gr LSWC bullets. The powders I have to work with are Unique, Bullseye, Titegroup, and regular Clays. If this is a bad idea let me know soon, I realize I am kind of cowboying along...no offense to you cowboys!

And the shell holders are different sizes, duh, so I will be waiting on those dies after all. Sigh...still interested in favorite loads though.

Jake: For goodness sake, break down and by a set of 45 Colt dies. Besides the shell holder, you will need to resize those cases after you finally manage to load and shoot them. 45 ACP seating dies normally taper crimp and not roll crimp that as needed for the $45 Colt cases. You can buy a set of Lee dies(includes the shell holder) for under 25.00, or possibly find a used set on the 'net. It will be more enjoyable and less frustration if you do it right the first time. Let the moth's out of your wallet and buy a reloading manual also!

Yeah, that is the plan. I have to order them so it will be awhile, I just haven't got around to ordering them. I only wanted to load a few so I could shoot it. Anyway that isn't going to happen so I will wait for the dies.

For a Ruger Vacaro, old model. I been loading 20.5 to 22 gr of IMR 4227 over a 250 gr XTP/HP. This feels like a HOT load.. Approching 44 mag terratory. Fun to shoot tho. I havent played with CAS loads yet. Thats next once I get some lead bullets. But typically I load 250gr bullets for the .45 colt.
