just curious which of the following rounds are your favorite:

Hornady Critical Defense

winchester pdx1

federal premium hydra shok

Please post what gr weight you would select and handgun you use it in as well as any other reasons you like the round.

None of the above.

Federal 147 grain +P HST.

When you really, absolutely, positively have to have the best chance of stopping them RIGHT NOW with a 9mm.

YMMV.

I use Federal Hydra shock or the HST's of them and have had good experiences with them. No failures of any kind when using either the old or new versions. Very reliable load for both expansion and penetration in medium that I have used which include water, gelatin, and chickens/turkeys.

Damian

Federal 9BPLE 115gr JHP +P+. It's been carried by numerous depts and agencies and has been proven in many, many shootings. I carry it on and off duty.

Running 124gr Golden Sabres right now, quite accurate. Nice thing was finding the bullets bulk at Midway so I can load them for practice as well.

Federal HST 147+P, absolutely. Or the 147 standard pressure HST, or the 124+P HST. But mostly the 147+P HST. Because it opens like a beautiful flower, wider than any other 9mm JHP I've seen, because it penetrates 13-14" even after expanding to three quarters of an inch, and because the way it expands leaves enough of the core/base of the bullet intact to continue it's forward momentum, instead of turning it into a wide, totally flat shape that just seems like the wrong way to try to push a bullet nose first into something.

9mm 124gr fmjrn or fmjhp that I reload.

I compete with this round, shoot it a lot and know exactly what I can do with it.

Sub-sonic, they cause little flip and give very fast target acquisition and transition.

They go very flat when you hit steel plates.
They punch clean holes in paper.
I can afford to shoot lots of them frequently.

either the 124 Gold dot or the Federal 9bp; each in both pressure loadings depending upon the gun.

FWEIW.

I voted other, because I got a good price on GDHP 124g +P's at $00.25 a round X1000 from GB.com 18 month's ago, and it's also a proven round which feeds very well in all my 9mm's, even in the revolvers.. Also they seem to be accurate.

But if I had to choose of the three, I'd get the cheapest (lowest prise) and make sure it feeded well in my gun.
