I've finally acquired something I've wanted for a long time. A Ruger M77 MkII All Weather in .264 Win Mag. It will go great in the safe with my 7mm RM, 300 WM, and 338 WM boat paddle Rugers.

I'm very anxious to get started loading for it. It will be my deer rifle for the upcoming season. I'm thinking about the 125gr Partition or 130gr Accubond, as I usually prefer Nosler for my hunting bullets. This is my first experience with a .264/6.5 of any type. The Nosler 6th manual says 61gr of RL22 will give 3166 with a 24" barrel (which my Ruger has) with a 130gr Accubond. That is plenty of deer medicine I'd say. 61gr of RL19 with the 125gr Partition shows 3222.

Any suggestions ?

Hold on, hold on. Takes me a few days to find these threads sometimes, too much ugly AR stuff for me around here to check in real often. I've done a lot of work with the .264 the past two years, but I'll just post my favorites. However, my gun has a custom chamber, 27.5" longer barrel and long throat. I will post my powder charges as those are more than likely safe in a factory chamber, but be CAREFUL! You likely won't come within 100 fps of my velocities though, but maybe you will.
100 grain Nosler Ballistic Tip: 71.5 grains H4831SC = 3725 fps, super accurate, sub 1/3 MOA in my gun. Hell on antelope.
120 grain Barnes TTSX: 67.5 grains Win 780= 3500 fps, not that accurate, but I've taken elk with this load.
140 grain Partitions: 63 grains (old IMR lists 65 as max) 7828: 3200 fps, 1/2 MOA, taken two elk and a deer with this load.
140 grain Speers: 75 grains US869, 1/2 MOA, 3175 fps

I really like the new Win 780, I get great velocities with all bullet weights (3200 plus 140s, 3300++ 130s, 3500+ 120s, etc), plus it's a nice ball powder.

Bullet HORNADY A-MAX
Bullet Weight 140.0 grs
Powder H870
Powder Weight 74.3 grs
Primer FED MAG MATCH
Brass Make REM 7MM MAG MOD.
Barrel Length 26.0 (inches)
C.O.L (inches)
Velocity 3062 fps
Group 100 yds .658 3 SHOT (inches)

This load is safe, I actually use up to 77 grains which is a compressed load. I have lots of H870 which I bought because it was cheap and gets almost the highest velocities with minimal pressures in compressed loads in over bore cartridges.
