I just purchased an old S&W Model 10 that has a worn grip, so I'm considering replacing it soon. Does anyone have a personal favorite Model 10 grip that I should try and look out for?
I found a set of Victory Model grips at a gun show, a few dings and dents, but they look perfect with the color case finish. They take my 2001 10-7 back 60 years.
They're an esthetic (sp?) abomination, but I like Uncle Mike boot grips for a real working revolver if it's a square butt. For K-Frame round butt, I like the Pachmayr Compact Signature grips.
The best are at www.eaglegrips.com I like the wood/rubber Pachmayrs too. I put a set of faux ivory grips on my S&W 6" revolver. They really stand out against the deep blue.
I have to concur with the standard Magna grips and the Tyler T. When the Model 10 was the standard service gun some recruits had trouble until we`d put the Tyler on. There was a marked improvement in their scores and they found it more comfortable. Same with my M10 3" RB.
I`ve tried all sorts of different grips on mine and found this setup worked the best.
On my Model 65 3" RB (.357 Mag) I use Pachmeyer Signature grips for the recoil. Gettin old. :banghead:
A bit off the topic but last year I was in a gun shop looking for used grips for a Model 19. The guy had a set of diamond take offs in decent shape for $10. They didn`t fit the K frame but fit my S series 27 with the 3 1/2" barrel real good!
