I've about got my pre-64 m70 fit into a post 64 classic synthetic stock and will be bedding it with devcon, so what have you used with devcon I've never used it. I've used kiwi shoe polish with other stuff but looking what maybe better.

I normally use Paste Wax on smooth surfaces for epoxy.

PVA is another product that I use. It's alcohol based wax that is used in gel coat/fiberglass repairs on boats. Leaves a layer of water soluble wax that can be washed off with water.

There are a ton of commercial release agents on the market including Brownels. I’ve used Kiwi without problems. Have you had problems with shoe polish?

Ive used car wax and whatever it is that comes in the probed kit. Ive found Devcon to be a bit stickier than marinetex or probed, but not really any more difficult to work with.

If you use KIwi shoe polish, and smooth it out with a buff cloth/paper towel, how do you know whether you've polished too much off?
I've seen a couple videos doing this and wondered how to ensure leaving enough on the metal.

You can kinda still tell there some on the parts still, tho on spots that maybe a problem and that aren't as critical for tight fit I put it on a little thick. It's probably a good practice to add it on more then once so your sure you haven't missed anything.
