That Vern Humphrey is a really smart fella!

I have a 1903 SAA in .44-40, and a Ruger Blackhawk in .45 Colt. For my hand, the Ruger is a better fit. It needed some trigger cleanup and a slight reaming in one chamber, but it works real good.

No, I didn't buy the SAA new. :D

I've only got one, and it's a Ruger Single Six with 6 1/2" bbl. It's loads of fun shooting .22lr and .22Mag. :D

I seem to have collected three in the past month- Ruger Single Six, Ruger Bisley .22, and repro 1860 Colt Army. Haven't shot the 1860 yet, but the others are great fun.

I saw an Uberti 1873 Cattleman. Mighty pretty, and the charcoal blue would go so well with my outfits.

Any 4.75" Colt SAA or clone that is accurate and reliable. My preferred chambering is .45LC. Currently, I own a Uberti 4.75" blued/case .45LC. I'm also a big Single Six fan.

My favorite would either be a Beretta Stampede with a Bisley style grip, or a Ruger Bisley Vaquero sized like a traditional Colt SAA. Hmmm.... I guess that would make it the same. :)

Unfortunately, I don't believe either exists. :(

As my sign sez.....my Ruger Old Army's are my favorite single actions. Have been shooting the 7.5 SS since 1976.....have thousands of rounds though it.
When the 5.5.came into the world......bought it the same day it first layed on the shelf..at the gun shop. Several hundred rounds though it......love them both!!

I just bought a Doug Turnbull USFA .45 with 5.5" barrel, and it is hands-down the finest single action I have ever handled. The fit on it is even slightly better than my Colt Single Action .45, which was made in 1902. I own a few second generation Colts, and several thirds as well, and none of them are as nice as this new USFA. I paid Turnbull a little extra to take a stone to the area in which the hammer rotates in the ears of the backstrap. I wanted absolute perfection on this gun, and I got it. Both the fit and finish are perfect in every way. My 1902 Colt has a little bit of a gap where the loading gate meets the frame. The USFA is perfect. Needless to say, I am pleasantly blown away by this transaction. I have been a single action nut ever since I shot a Colt .45 as a kid (30 years ago). It leaves me wondering why in the heck Colt can no longer make a gun like this USFA. This USFA will definitely go with me to my grave.

I hate the Rugers. Strong and all, but I'm too traditional to like aluminum and stainless on a cowboy gun. Cast parts and that matt finish also turn me off.

I like the genuine Colt. Yeah, they're obscenely expensive but they just look and feel right. I only have one, bought many years ago, but it's a sweetie. A .44 Special with real ivories.

magum research, BFR in 45-70 govt. Im mainly a double action revo guy, but this is on my must have list.

Sweeeeet, now Im being teased, by looking at that bfr my pocket book is seemingly getting lighter.

Pezo .... not meaning to tease but --- work on makin that pocket book gradually heavier for now - then go lighten it in one big hit, when you get the BFR.

Also, allow for loading dies, as the Rem 45-70 ammo is whimpy - just safe stuff for trapdoor guns. With reloading facility you can get to some half ways decent (but safe) loads ... more like you'd use in a lever action.

Save - and go for it - disappointed you'll not be.

Ruger Old Army Stainless Cap-and-Ball. Superbly accurate out of the box and nothing is cheaper to shoot!

Hey-this thread didn't say cartridge revolvers only!! :neener:
