Federal 115 9mm 9BPLE out of a p365

Buffman is getting 1150 - 1200 fps out of a p938 with slightly over 11" of penetration.



I'm looking for best performance without a lot of recoil considering the size of the p365. My normal load is Federal 147 HST Tactical (+P).

I've got 115 gr. Speer Lawman on order for practice so it's not getting a steady diet of 9BPLE.

No I only have +P, I needed to get some indoor range ammo and that will come in Monday. But I have a LOT of HST 147 +P so I'm open to it. I need to talk to the range owner about any restrictions.

Standard pressure 124 Gr HSTs give me right at an average 1075ish FPS from my P-365. I have not shot any of the +P 124 gr HSTs.

If the +P+ ammo is not wearing out your gun quicker, I wonder what it is doing to you? In all seriousness, I started carrying +P+ when it was issued to me back in the mid 1990's. It is really hot stuff, but in a small gun, I would wonder if you are trading off control and thereby accuracy and faster follow up shots for power.
I was carrying +P ammo for the last decade, but now have switched to the FEDERAL HST 124 grain jhp. Its performance is quite adequate without the noise, flash and recoil of the +P+ ammo.

9BPLE +P+ does not not offer the best performance period. 9BPLE +P+ does certainly does not not offer the best performance with lower recoil.

The 147gr Winchester Ranger "T" Series RA9T ia a better performing round, and the 147gr Federal HST std pressure and +P are better performing rounds. The standard pressure 147gr penetrates a little more deeply and expands and little less than the +P version.

The 9BPLE probably has more "Street Cred" with experienced L.E, than any other round.

I still carry it, and trust it.

I don't shoot at armored vehicles, so I have no need for more penetration than 9BPLE gives me.
