Ammo availability is only part of the equation here. The other part is pistols that are actually chambered in 30SC. And only two companies have produced pistol so far. And not everyone is a fan of the S&W pistols. I know I'm not, I just don't care for the grip safety on them. Then there is the Nighthawk Customs 1911 which is very expensive.

I would love to see a single stack that is thinner than most comparable 9mm single stacks along with a double stack with more capacity.

After doing some investigating on my own, it would not take much for Glock to produce a G43 or G19 sized pistol in 30SC. As is you can get 19 30SC rounds in a G19 mag and with a little redesign of the follower and feed lips, 20 would fit just fine. With the single stack G43 mags, it would definitely take a redesign of the feed lips. OEM G43 mags won't even hold 32 caliber cases in.

And I would also be interested in a 30SC pistol based on the Colt Pony/Kimber Micro/Sig P938 design too.

I will hold off on getting into 30SC until more manufacturers start producing pistols for it.

A Glock with 20 rounds of .30 SC would definitely be something I would like to check out. I just bought a G48 MOS. I like it and I would bet if that gun were used as a base Glock could do 14 or 15 rounds easily with a staggered mag. Aftermarket mags may get to 18 - 20 as well.

The Shield Plus can be had with or without thumb safety, mine doesn't have one. I'm a Glock guy through and through but I'll give S&W credit, the Shield Plus is a damn fine pistol, very good trigger. With the flush mag the 30SC Shield Plus has the footprint of a G43 but holds 14rds. With the 16rd mag it has the same footprint as the G43X, plus it comes with night sights and is optics ready.

I’m a huge fan of anything in 32 caliber but have no interest in the 30 Super Carry because of the guns that are available. My dream handgun of choice for the 30 SC would be a Sig P938 type chambered in 30 SC . I simply will not carry a striker fired handgun, prefer a hammer.

12Bravo20,

One problem that a pistol like you described would be increased recoil perception. It would not be a greater amount of recoil over the 9m.m. I still think they are about the same, but a slimmer grip would spread that recoil impulse over a smaller area of your hand. With .22lr recoil, it would not be a problem. I think it might be in a .30 Super Carry pistol.

I can say that a Glock G43 or Sig P938/Kimber Micro chambered in 30SC definitely would not be as bad as shooting 9mm or 30SC in a Kel-Tec PF9. Yes I own and shoot all three. I would gladly take a G43 or P938 in 30SC especially if they could slim it down some.

I realized if I hold me thumb over the top round in the mag, I could stuff the .30 rounds in some 9mm mags and see how much they could hold.

Glock 17- 21 rounds
Glock 19- 18 rounds
S&W Shield gen 1 8 round- 10 rounds
Beretta 17rd- 21 rounds
Sig P226 18 round- 22 rounds
Sig P320 15 round- 19 rounds
Sig P365 10 round- 12 maybe 13 rounds. It was hard to tell if the 13th round would have fit or not.
