More great testing, Thanks. Just picked up a 30SC Shield Plus this week and haven't decided on which carry ammo I will use.

If price is a consideration, Midway has the Remington on sale for $13 a box.

3.7” is absolutely pathetic penetration.

Lethal, perhaps. Most .45 ACP loads however reach 12” or more in gel with excellent stopping power.

Why anyone considers a glorified .32 mouse gun cartridge for social work is beyond me.

"The first round, through bare gel, penetrated to 15.25 inches with a velocity of 1210 fps. The recovered weight of the bullet was 100.9 grains and expansion was .51 by .50 inches.

The second round went 15 inches in the gel block and expanded to .52 by .50 inches. Impact velocity was 1181 fps and recovered weight was 100.6 grains."

It did pretty good.

Even the worst 32 acp jhp will exceed 3 inches penetration...usually in that load a good jhp expands well, but gets less than ten inches penetration...vs fmj ammo which always yields adequate penetration.

From ballistic gel torso tests with the ribs and bones and organs, it seems 380 and up is when a pistol round starts going through a sternum. The lower rounds treat bones like armor sometimes and can deflect center of mass hits.

A 380 flat point will just keep on trucking.

I carry it occasionally and it's just as deadly as a 45. Next time read the whole comment before you talk that way.

How much Social Work have you done?

I think the 30 SC is a interesting cartridge.. I was hoping we would hear from Shot Show of several new pistols being chambered for the 30 SC
But Im surprised just how little we are hearing from shot show overall

Was considering factory ammo, but want to work on load testing with the 100gn XTP. Was reaching 1195-1215 fps from the Federal 100gn FMJ last week and with the load data from Hodgdon I believe we can reach 1250+ actual from the 100XTP in the Shield Plus.
