Federal 9mm 124gr HST info

Does anybody have any thoughts or links to information on the Federal 9mm 124gr HST's. Just bought a box of 50 for 25 bucks at the gun show. I will be sending them thru a CZ Rami 3" barrel.

There is not a lot of hard data on real world shootings with HST. So far most data is on the 147gr because it is used by several large police agencies. There has been about twenty LEO shootings with it and the agencies are satisfied with the ammo.

Because you have the 3 inch Barrel I would try to get some Federal 124gr +P HST. I use the 124gr +P Federal HST Ammo in my 9mm's and it's Great Ammo. HST is a common Law Enforcement Load. Check out the link below. You cannot go wrong with the Federal HST or the Winchester Bonded Ammo for LE.

i just did a wetpack test with 15 HST 124 grain non +p...the 5 that went through 4 layers of denim opened up perfectly, the best reaching 3/4 of an inch wide--BUT--( insert dramatic music here) the other 10 that took on denim and 1 layer of leather jacket OR just 1 layer of leather jacket did not do well at all, all expanded but Very Poorly...all rounds penetrated about 6-7 inches each, so just for perspective; i shot 15 speer lawman 124 grain in FMJ into the other side of the pack to gauge the packs strength and they all went 8-9 inches....i want to like the HST, when they work they look nasty, but if i were living up north and could encounter a BG wearing leather, i would plan on squeezing off extra rounds.....draw you own conclusions please

Here's the write up that convinced me to get a few boxes of the HST. I bought 124 grain +p and have had no issues whatsoever. Performance, from the author's standpoint along with his photos, is nothing short of impressive.

Your test with the 9mm.WW.Whitebox 147 JHP, looks like the results I got with my own milk jug test ! When I compared the UMC 100pack of 115 Grain JHP. from Wallyworld, to the WW ,also from Wally ,the UMC 115 JHP nearly always had jacket and core separation! But the 147 WW JHP showed better penetration and stayed intact with good expansion ,in spite of the lower velocity.

Welcome to THR! Please don't mistake what I posted as that being a test I performed; it's merely a write up on the HST that I found and posted for others to read.

I haven't shot HST into anything more than paper.
