federal auto match 22 ammo

Anyone else every heard of it?

Very good stuff. I have some .22s that are very picky, but they all like the Auto Match.

IMO, Federal Auto Match strikes a really great balance between price and quality, quality being accuracy, cleanliness and reliability. It may not be quite as good as pricier rounds, but it is signficantly cheaper. It does seem to be a lot cleaner than Federal's Wallie World Bulk Pack.

I really like it, as it strikes a near perfect value tradeoff for me.

And my father's Marlin Model 60 shoots it flawlessly, not so the cheaper 550 Federal Bulk Pack. I still shoot the cheaper bulk pack in guns that don't seem to notice the difference, like my own Model 60 and Heritage Rough Rider. But my CZ-452 is noticeably more accurate, as is my K-22 which also achieves better ignition reliability.

I recommend giving it a try to those that haven't.

There was a bad lot of Auto-Match a year or so ago. The boxes had 20-25% underpowered rounds. Not quite squibs, but they just went "poof" and dropped rapidly after leaving the barrel. I had four boxes of this stuff and Federal replaced it at "2 for 1 +1"--they sent me nine boxes in total. I'm not complaining.

Same here. Our Local WM doesn't carry it, but I do recall ordering some through Natchez. The replacement ammo worked well and was accurate. Also like the Fed Bulk 550 pack, which is sold through the local WM. Picked up two boxes this morning. Much better than Rem Gold box which blew the extractor off one of my BM's earlier this year. Wont be using the gold box anymore. Federal Champion SP HV 510's are also available through WM and are accurate and reliable in my rifles/pistols.

I've used it for pistol matches.

It's GREAT stuff.

...if you can find it.

A few guys at the pistol club asked me about it, too. When we went to get some, it was all gone. Hasn't ever returned.

I'm another fan of the stuff. Works very well in all my .22s. Perhaps not the most accurate stuff in the world, but just fine and utterly reliable in my experience.

I have noticed this ammunition is no longer in Federal's catalog. They call one of their Champion brand 'auto-match' in the fine print.

Champion® Target

Find a nice range of capable target shooting options for your rimfire guns. If you're looking for the most performance for your dollar, look to the 40-grain solid AutoMatch 22LR—its sweet-spot velocity make it perfect for 10/22 actions and other autoloading firearms. [end quote]

Does this mean that the Champion Target is AutoMatch? Anybody work for Federal? Maybe we can ask.

It's still there: AM22 is AutoMatch. There's a bunch of different Champion Target ammo, and AutoMatch is one flavor.
