Review.

It shows up at Cabellas too.

I shoot prairie dogs for ranches. My total for this season is 1200, and with the exception of about 100 with a shotgun, about a third have been taken with Automatch in a CZ bolt action at ranges from 70-180 yards. I consider it accurate and consistent.

Not a fan. Runs dirty and I prefer cleaner ammo for my old semi-autos. I used up the last of it in a .22 snubby. Ditto for thunderbolt.

The Fed Auto Match shot 3 to 4 times better groups from my guns than the standard bulk Fed, Win, and Rem stuff I had been shooting, so I switched to it some years back. I would buy a case (?) of ten boxes from Midway. I was lucky to have just ordered one when the craziness started. Then I lucked into some Blazer at the normal price, but since then I haven't bought any .22. 3 plus years? Gosh, has it been that long?

I still have plenty, but only because I have limited my .22 shooting. I hope it gets back to normal one of these days. We are certainly closer than we have been for a long time now.

My son and I shot an Appleseed several years ago. I was shooting 5.56 in an open sighted AR, he was shooting .22 in a 10/22. He was shooting some ammo that he had bought, and had problems about every magazine.

One of the shoot staff came over with a box of the Federal auto-match and offered it to him. He shot the rest of the course with it without any other problems.

I have since consumed many boxes of it, and it has always performed well.

In this day and age, ANY .22 LR under seven cents per is a bargain methinks.

I pine for the days of use when a 50 round box of Rem Thunderbolts were like a buck fifty at the wal marts, but alas.

Yeah, it is always funny at the range when someone , usually someone who is older, comes in with a box of .22 with a price sticker on it for $1.20 or something and everyone says, "Where did you get that!!"

I think a few of the older guys like bringing in older boxes like that so they can chew over how expensive things are now. :)

Nearly all my .22 rifles are more accurate with Federal Auto Match. The exception is a Mossberg that prefers the old Winchester/Western Match ammo.

I think most would agree that the Automatch ammo is far better than the cheap Remington and Winchester 22. And all of them seem to sell around the same price point, 6-7 cents a round.

Federal Auto-match can be great, good, or just so-so. It all depends on the lot # you get. I used to use it for Bullseye competition as a fallback to CCI standard velocity, and it can be very accurate. FWIW, Federal seems to have problems from time to time with their mfg. process, and you might have lots with a lot of bloopers. Their crimping process can be iffy. If that happens, I know from experience that they will gladly refund your cost without any hassle.
Your experience sounds about the same as mine. As for refunding the price, they did much better than that when they had a bad run of Auto-Match a few years ago. I had four boxes of the suspect batch, and Federal replaced them at 2-for-1 + 1: I sent them four boxes and they sent me nine. Big thumbs-up for Federal!

Welp, seeing that I only buy CCI Mini-Mag and Federal Auto-Match at ANY price, so yes, I'd say buy it, and let me know if I can too!
