I just received the following email from Kyles Gunshop:

WE HAVE JUST RECEIVED WORD FROM OUR SUPPLIER THAT FEDERAL IS CRACKING DOWN ON RETAILERS WHO ARE SELLING THEIR LAW ENFORCEMENT AMMUNITION ONLINE!

We have been asked to remove all Federal HST from our website and we have complied with this request. We don't have a whole lot in stock at the moment anyway, but we have a bunch on order and the fact that we sell it online is jeopardizing our ability to get product in. We will still have Federal HST available, but we can only take phone orders at this time. Please call us for pricing and availability or to place an order.

Does this mean there are actually agents working on our dime to identify sales to non-LEO customers and then taking the time to contact the supplier?

No, Federal is a privately owned ammunition manufacturer. Apparently they have a product that they want to sell exclusively to police, and they are threatening not to distribute their products to distributors who are selling it to anybody and everybody online. My guess is that this is a marketing move designed to appeal to police who have an "only ones" mindset.

I think you're mistaking the Federal Government for Federal Ammunition.

Guess I wasn't quick enough also...

You are confusing the Federal Ammunition Company with the Federal government. Sounds like a plot to jack up the price of Federal Ammunition Company's HST ammo either by the retailer or by Federal Ammuntion Company.

The Federal government has nothing to do with it, unless it is armor piercing handgun ammunition, which it is not.

Sounds like Federal (the company) cracking down. I would be really, really,... suprized if the Fed's (government) have anything to do with it.

Guess I wasn't quick enough also...

Me too. I think slow, type slower!:)

Yes, for whatever reason, I completely misread that!

Ok, this makes much more sense. It's their product and they completely have the right to decide who to sell to. I understand they want non-LEO folks to buy 20 or 25 round boxes rather than the 50 round boxes that seem to be market LEO Ammunition.

Thanks for pointing out the obvious, something I didn't pick up.

That is if this "crack down" really is coming from Federal Ammunition and not the retailer.

The only federal ammo I buy is their .22 bulk packs. For my handguns, I only buy in 50 or 100 round packs, I rarely even see 20 or 25 round packs on the shelf. Might be because I don't buy Federal too often.

I say we band together with every other forum and all our shooting buddies to boycott Federal Ammunition. We'll soon see how little Federal depends on us.:)

Anything marketed as "Law Enforcement Only" goes up in value because the artificial scarcity gives it a mistique that causes people to believe that it is somehow better. This technique works on purchasing agents for the police departments as well as it does the general public. You see variations of this artificial scarcity technique used in advertising every day with limited editions. "Supplies are limited act now!"

Too many casual shotgunners like their loads from wally world too much to stop using them..... ;)

No such thing as price gouging as long as folks willingly buy the product.... :D
"I" won't buy their product. You may if you wish. Until Federal changes their marketing policies I will NOT be buying any of their products. There are far too many other great products available to give in to abusive marketing tactics. :barf:

I'm I alone in my fight?:)
