I have carried them in both 9mm and .45. I don't think there is enough real world info out there yet. You might search the firing line as the designer commented there. They do have a flat top so do they don't feed the same way as round nose they have a similar profile to hydrashock. My own tests and those at ammolab.com gave them pretty good results. I put down a wounded deer with one in .45 and was able to retrieve the slug. It fully expanded like on the side of the box. I think they have some great benifits. People in NJ where hollowpoints are illegal for carry may be able to carry them (I am not positive about nj law but I believe it says HP are illegal for carry not the broader catagory of rounds designed to expand). Many people think the primary benifit is the improved feeding of round nose which as I said above isn't nesseasrily the case. The primary benifit I see is that there is no possibility of cloging on heavy clothes. It will not start expanding until the hydrostatic pressure is great enough i.e. it meets flesh. A disadvantage is they only come in lighter weights as they have a lower sectional density due to the gel. Due to that it was either a significatly slower round in 230 gr for example (.45 acp) or a 200 gr round in a standard or +p variety. I am pretty confident in this round and I think it address the HP cloging problem well wich previously plaged HP's.

EFMJ is kind of in a legal gray area here in the People's Paradise. Some lawyer might be able to argue it into being a HP. No one has tested it in court, and no one wants to be the first.

BTW, they might perform better than JHP when going thru cloth, anyway. IIRC, JHP expands only about 50% of the time in street situations.

As for carry here... :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:
