Moyock North Carolina but i go to VA a lot also.
Anyone do it yet? I'm looking at the 12ga. 2 3/4 00 load. Lee Lapin told me in a thread that it had the tightest patterns. Would this be OK for deer or is it meant strictly for 2 legged wild animals? I'd think it would be OK but i though I'd ask.

BTW those of you that saw my thread where i was trying to decide between buck and slugs, i chose buck because around here shots are rarely over 30 yards and i know it does lots of damage at those ranges. However i still want a tight pattern and i think this federal load will give me one.

Has anyone tried this load with different choke tubes? It seems everyone that has tried it used CYL bore.

I use them in my Mossberg 930 SPX but not for hunting. At 25 yards it pattern's are the same diameter as a dollar bill is long (6-inches).

arent those reduced recoil? i dont think they will have the oomph over about 20 yds. i would opt for full on 2.75 or, even better, 3" mags.

tactical/reduced recoil loads should never be relied on to take down game. use slugs, or at the least, full powered 00 buck. i am not sure if federal makes full powered flitecontrol shells; ironically, which is amusing since the name is BUCK shot.. they make very good PEOPLE shot though :p

Whatever you decide, make sure you pattern it in your shotgun. I had stuff that patterned great in one and lousy in another. It all depends on what your barrel pixies prefer.
