Bought 3 AKs in the last couple weeks (Romanian pistol, Maadi, Yugo) and am now looking into the best way to feed these things. Was thinking about ordering up a case or two of '70s Yugo surplus from Samco but the price isn't all that much less than getting Brown Bear or Wolf from AIM or a few other online outfits. Non corrosive would be nice, probably won't be reloading it, will probably get a little extra for a rainy day somewhere down the road so long term stability is a plus. The Yugo surplus comes pretty well sealed up so I'm sure it would store well long term but it's already 30 years on the new Russian type stuff. Any thoughts/experiences?

I really like Golden Tiger. It's cheap and my guns like it much better than Wolf.

If you can, try buying from gun shows. If there are more than three or four dealers, they may get a bit competitive to sell their stuff and not have you buy the other guy's. I called SG earlier tonight and got a $19.99 shipping quote for 600 rounds of .223 in a .50 cal ammo can. I know SG is high, but the signs are everywhere that prices and shipping are going up.

FWIW, in 7.62x39 I'm partial to Wolf MC 124 gr. HP.

the cheapest for me at shops goes for about 4 bucks per 20-rd box. That's about average from what people tell me.

Feeding anything outside of a .22 is never going to be cheap. Shotguns are the worse though, which is why I'm not planning on buying them for awhile

Delivered from SG w/ the Buyer's Club, Wolf 7.62x39 MC HP is right around 21¢ a round, $.20521 to be exact. That makes 20 rounds from them $4.10.

Wolf MC FMJ from AIM Surplus is actually a decent deal. With shipping, it's $188.78, or 19¢ a round. That'd be $3.80 in a shop, before tax, and I haven't seen a 20 round box of 7.62x39 around here with a leading three in a while.

A tin of 5.45x39 from them is $134.56 with shipping, but it's nowhere near as good a deal as the continued fire sale at Century. If you exceed $500, they eat the shipping, which is unbeatable if you can grab it in chunks like that.

You always gotta figure in taxes when you think local sales, you know? Sometimes shipping is actually cheaper.
