In mail, have just gotten thru my certification for NRA Instructor .... covering Basic Pistol, Rifle, Shotgun, Personal Protection .... and Range Safety Officer.
Course finished over 2 weeks ago .. two and a half weekends ... and working it all out - quite a considerable expense! Factor in the fees, motel costs, gas money . etc .. reckon it cost all told about $600 in round figures.
I hope to recoup this over a coupla years but primarily am keen to put this to good use where I can .... bring on new shooters and better instill safety with existing shooters, even if I don't charge much. Neither of my clubs thus far has a SOP (standard op' proceedure) posted on the firing point ... something that needs addressed IMO.
Doubt I'll get a huge uptake in my local area but fortunately, one guy on the course is only 30 mins away and in an area where he expects to be able to run some good size courses. That'll mean I can go share the teaching with him .... more than one tutor always way better.
It's no big deal I guess .... many others here have done this but ... as an ol' phart, I feel pleased I took the trouble. Should give me a better opportunity to further use my years of experience with the time I have left.
<------- self satisfied grin!!
