Fellow deer hunters what gun are you using for deer season

I carried my Tikka T3 in .308 on opening morning. I won't get to hunt again until next weekend and I might carry a BLR in 358 Win if I hunt in the woods. If I hunt from a tree stand it will be my trusty .257 Weatherby mag built on an Interarms Mark X commercial Mauser action.

For muzzleloader season the answer has been the same for the last 13 years: Savage 10MLII smokeless 50 cal.

My first year I hunted in a zone further north, using a Marlin 336 in .30-30. Didn't shoot at anything.

This year, about 65 miles south of last year's hunting spot, I was in the "shotgun zone". So my Mossberg 930 Waterfowl with a modified choke, $35 clamp on sights and Winchester 2 3/4" Super X rifled slugs was the gun I used. I shot my first deer Tuesday evening and it's in the freezer as of a few hours ago.

Took my first deer ever this year with my Savage Axis .308 with a Centerpoint 4-16x40 on top with Federal Power Shok 150gr soft points.

I always carry two rifles to camp.
This year will be my old Remington 600 Mohawk in .308 topped with a Leupold VX-1 2x7 scope.
Best walk hunting gun I have ever owned.
The other rifle is a Remington 700 LVSF in the very rare as hen's teeth .308 caliber topped with a Nikon Monarch 3x9 scope.

While I dont hunt deer I suppose if the right one presented itself to me I might try to poke a hole in it. Until that happens I'll continue to take out feral pigs with my little 300 Blackout. This 180lb boar took a sub sonic 240gr SMK between the ears last night.

New Hampshire's regular firearms, any deer, season open in my area yesterday. So yesterday and today I was out with my 7mm-08 Thompson Center Icon. I didn't see a thing...but that isn't the rifle's fault!

Before the season is over I'll rotate through my Savage 7mm-08, Savage 257 Roberts, and Icon 30TC until either the season is over or I get a deer.

If I get a chance to hunt a couple of towns over (a shotgun only area) I'll use my 20 gauge Mossberg 500 with Win Super X slugs. I tried several brands and the Winchester was the best, Remington a close second, and Federal struggled to even find the paper. Brenneke slugs look intriguing so I'll retest those sometime after the season is over.

I'm new to hunting and by the looks of things I've every reasonable angle on the shooting part of hunting covered. Now I hope I can learn enough about the stalking/tracking/finding the silly things part to get some venison on the table.

I have three deer guns I swap between depending on my mood. A marlin 1895 in 45-70 with barrel cut down to 16", a Browning BAR in 30-06 or my ar in 458 SOCOM

Started off with a PSE Dream Season DX then moved on to a Remington 700 CDL in .270 which I took a doe last week with. Now I'm using the 7.5 Inch Ruger Redhawk 44 magnum with 240 grain SJSP.

Tikka t3 Lite in 270. The rifle has never let me down and has always put the bullet in the cross hairs. It has added a deer to the freezer the last two years.

I don't know if it's really true that .30-30 has killed more deer than anything else, but I'm doing my part to keep it up.

Yesterday morning, one shot with a 170gr Core Lokt from about 100 feet. She took a step and fell.
My property is 40 acres that was a Christmas tree farm, now it's just a whole bunch of pine and spruce trees. I don't really need anything capable of 500 yard shots, because they just don't exist here, although I do have a Weatherby Vanguard .25-06 in the closet.

I am hunting this year in Southern woods with a lot of brush and undergrowth in the woods, so I dug out my Winchester Model 94 .30WCF with an open site. If I am in more open country, I use a Remington 7400 .270 cal.

I took a deer at 40yds the last Sat of bow with my Parker wildfire shooting slick trick mags then last Sat was opening day and I took another buck at 60yds with my t/c venture .270 shooting ssts. I may pull out my Mossberg935 (yes I do have a rifled slug barrel on it) just giggles

Started with my Savage 308 and took a nice doe. Now for a more of a challenge im dusting off the 91/30 Mosin for some open sight hunting.

Normally I use muzzleloaders throughout the regular season. Never much liked deer hunting with shotguns even though I have a couple that are very accurate with slugs.

This year, for the first time in my lifetime, rifles were approved for big game hunting in my area. My little 788 Remington .308 carbine really surprised me with the accuracy of a Varget handload I tried and I planned to use that.

Then on reflection, the proximity of houses (on the other side of a couple hundred yard brake of trees) made me nervous. Ended up choosing to go with an 1894 Marlin in .44 magnum shooting 240 gr. JHPs over a near max. load of 296. Figured the muzzleloaders never caused any problems so I'd be better off with something delivering about the same ballistics.

The Marlin did the job as I collected a large 11 pt. buck with one shot on Friday. Range was about 50 yards.
