Model 70 Winchester w/ BOSS, 7mm Rem Mag, Federal Premium 160 gr. Accubonds....one shot, dead deer :)

The .270 is very adequate for deer. We shoot some pretty large mule deer here, and in the terrain where I hunt shots can be long. Typically though only about 200-300 yards and the 270 plants them hard. I shoot 130 grain Sierra Gamekings at just under 3000 fps.

My son shoots a .260 Remington (.243's big brother) and it also is very effective. Any decent shot is a one shot kill. His longest with it is 360 yards on a big mule deer and it was DRT one shot. 120 grain Sierra Gameking going just about 3000 fps.

I have shot one bull elk and used my .270 for it also. Used a 150 grain bullet going around 2800. He ran about 75 yards and piled up.

I used my 9mm AR15 for my doe.. have been using a 30-06 for my buck just because it's already setup and ready to go...

The rifle season for me is over but I used my new 300 BLK chambered AR-15

I was really amazed at how well the 300 performed out to about 140 on some big Mn deer. My girl took a heavy bodied buck with it (First Deer) and I took a freezer doe at about 80.

It's shotgun only where I hunt. I use an H&R Pump with an 870 Shurshot stock with a 2.5x Tasco. It's very accurate with the Federal fusion sabots.

If by chance I do get an opportunity to hunt in a rifle zone, my Marlin XS7 in 308 with a weaver 4-10x44 and Boyd stock will come with me.

So as the title says guys what gun are you going to use for the hunt me ole reliable my dads 30 30 marlin 336

During last few years, Remington R-25 in .308, w/ Meopta 4-12x50 & 45° offset iron backup sights. Usually with fairly hot 150gr Swift Scirocco 2 handloads, even though this one bit Norma Oryx factory load a few days ago...

For driven hunts I have a Ruger Deerfield .44 carbine, with a 50yd parallax Zeiss shotgun scope.

(sorry, I had to post the pic; even though I've shot more than my fair share of does, this is my first real trophy-size whitetail buck ever, and I'm over the moon. :D)

I will be using a ruger 77/44 with a redfield 2-7 scope. That is a 44 magnum bolt action carbine 18.5 barrel, for those of you who are unfamiliar with it. Effective range is about 150 yards. I hunt in thick woods so its all I need.

Used my Ruger P944 40 S&W yesterday on a button buck but as soon as my 7.62 x 54R M44 is sighted in I am going to try to get one with it. Doc raised the weight limit allowed on my arm so I should be able to use it now. Had surgery on it in August so it is still healing.

P.S. update after cleaning the deer I came to the conclusion that this year's hunt is over for me. Until they can fix my back it is just too hard on me. I can hardly move today.

I've been letting the load, not the gun, dictate what goes with me. I have a lot that I am TOLD will kill deer, but you never know until you shoot them. So far this season, that has involved a .300wsm (Nosler BT, Varget) and an 8mm (Barnes TTSX, IMR 4895). Next up will be the savage (.308) or the Mosin Nagant. Not sure which, but the loads need to be tested on deer before I can tell people what my "favorite deer load" is, which will certainly happen between now and next season on this very site.
Seeing as I didn't answer your question... I'll be using a remington 700, an AR 15, a VZ24, a MN 91/30, and a Savage 110.

Since I hunt thick cover from ground stands, I use a 12 bore Remington 870 with a 26" vent rib and bead sight system firing Dixie TriBall buckshot through a Briley extended full choke.
