BP---Insanity??

Been shooting a Ruger Old Army..7.5ss...since...1976. TC Renengade..54..since 1978. TC Cherokee..(anyone remember these?).in 32....since the late eighties. Added a second ROA....blue...5.5.....couple of years now. Cast my own slugs for all of the above......some hollow points for the ROAs.....pure lead. Insane? with the prices of ammo lately? If I see the need.....can order..and afford a lifetimes worth of powder and caps..and still have the means to move it all on a moments notice. I can make slugs with a campfire...ladle..and mold. Recycle slugs if I need to.

I have half interest in an original 1832 six pounder field piece. Ft. Pitt Foundry

Two original powder horns. Scrimshaw and other carving dates these to 1840s.
Original bayonets w/frogs and scabbards for the above military rifles.

As like others above I run my own ball and reload my own brass.

Looking for original Spencer rifle/carbine at reasonable price.

I forgot...I also have an original 1858 Remington that my Great Grandfather carried during the 'Troubles'. Don't shoot it since I keep it in a box at the bank.

Loved shooting these things ever since I was old enough to take the recoil. Gosh! I never listed them all before and these are just the black powder firearms...must be some sort of 'gun nut' I guess...

7 rifles, 6 handguns so far, with more on the way. It's an addiction! :)
I own way more centerfires than I own BP guns, but I have far more passion for the BP guns and I can see them outgrowing my centerfire collection some day.

Here's my inventory:

2 brass framed .44 Navies (Pietta)
1 steel framed '60 Army (Pietta)

1 Walker Colt
1 3rd Model Dragoon
1 '6o Army
(The above all Colt Blackpowder Signature Series)

1 '51 Navy (Colt Blackpowder 2nd gen "F" series)

1 1873 Model P "7th Cavalry" SAA (blackpowder frame - Navy Arms)

1 "Cattleman's Carbine"
1 "Winchester '73"
1 1866 "Yellow Boy"
(all Uberti)

1 .50 cal "Great Plains " rifle (Lyman)

I used to have a Remmie '58 New Army from Pietta which wasn't a bad gun, but I just could never get into it, had more fun with the open-framed Colts and hardly ever used it, so eventually I gave it away to a friend who still shoots it occasionally.

As to who gets the guns after I've gone, I've willed the 2nd and 3rd gen Colts to a local history museum in Ft Lupton, Colo (originally an old trading fort along the South Platte River in the 1830s); the rest to be divvied up between my nephews.

:D
