I just got a jukar 45 flint rifle in trade for some work I was doing for my uncle. It is missing the rod and flint. Could someone give me some advice on what flint and rod to get? Also I know that u need real black powder for flintlocks but what brand works the best for y'all?

I saw I can order a custom one from October country, these any good? It gives the option of 10 or 8 /32 threads. A complete set of tips seemed reasonable priced on there also

Yea if your not interested in original type, I would get a newer style fiber one from Track of the Wolf, but now you have measurements...
So is it a 5/16 or 9mm? Says that.35 is 9mm not 5/16. Just want to make sure I'm not missing anything. A tc hawken rod will go into the guides but is too short if that helps

Me thinks 5/16 is like 8.5 mm, , 9 might be slightly large, but most the shops like track sell them by American measure. I think, just pick a 5/16 or 8mm and it will fit, 9 might be to much and scrape the rings that hold it

5/16 is .3125 not 351 as shown on the caliper display, 9 mm is .356. Might be helpful to have the correct measurements before ordering a ramrod. TOW has rods made of " Delrin" , a black synthetic material that's very durable. Measure the inside diameter of the ramrod thimbles and order from that measurement.

I've been wanting a Delrin field rod for my Jukar Kentucky rifles, @Jackrabbit1957 reminded me of this, so I contacted Track of the Wolf to get a custom one made, ill let you know the cost when they respond.
Put a picture of your rifle up so we can see what model it is...would help decipher your ramrod needs

I got the stuff in but I physically cannot pull the ball that was left in it. I have no idea what to do as I just tried tying the tip of the ramrod to Paracord using a choker knot and tied it to a couch frame. Jerking the gun against the cord did nothing. Put all my weight into it the cord started to rip. What do I do?

Do you know for sure its just a ball with no powder charge? If so you may be able to poke enough powder through the touchhole to shoot it out. Or you can use compressed air which works with a powder charge. Or you can get a CO2 discharger. I've never seen one that couldn't be pulled with a ball jag and a vice. Don't try it if the ramrod tip isn't pinned.

Funnel 5 grns of FFFF powder into the touch hole and fire

I'm not sure if it has powder or not. The gun had been thrown in a saltwater swimming pool by a crazy x wife. I had to use a pick to get the flash hole opened back up from all the rust. If there was powder would have went in the water and I also sprayed penetrateing oil in to prevent rust.

If you have a ramrod with a pinned and threaded tip and a vise you can get a ball puller. Screw the puller into the ball. Put the ramrod in a vice with leather wrapped around it and pull the rifle off of it.
