Few glock sub-compact questions

I'm looking at a Glock 37 or 39 for one of my next firearms, but before I decide, I had a few questions about the 39.

1) I see a lot of pictures of the smaller glocks with an extension on the bottom, is that a grip extension or a magazine extension? If it's a grip extension, how easy is it to install/remove?
2) Do the extended magazines (e.g. the normal-sized magazines if looking at the standard size Glock) have grip extensions on them (like the XD sub-compact) or do they just jut out of the bottom of the grip (like the 33-round 9mm magazine does on the G17)?

The Glock platform is infinitely customizable.

Yeah, except there wasn't one for the 39 listed.

Measure G38 mag dimensions (width and depth) and compare with G19/23 mag. If they are the same, then I would be willing to try one on the G39.

They work great on 9/40 mags.
