FFFG vs FFFFG

If the salesman said that, he is a fool and idiot and the store is a bigger fool for keeping him on.

Yeah I almost walked away without purchasing it. Unfortunately I'm a sucker, and the allure of finding real bp locally for the first time took over so I purchased it anyway. Had planned to purchase 2-3 pounds of 3f but only bought 1 lb of the 4f. I will go purchase 3f when they get it back in stock because it's the only place I can find it. Already looking at flintlocks and pocket pistols for the 4f!

Did it state what pistol that was in?

I'm curious about the max charge of 37 grns. That's likely close to what a max charge in my Remington NMA would with a ball, and by that I mean it is filled to capacity and cannot hold more. I've only used up to 35 grns and it was near but not flush with the chamber mouth.

Anyone know how much pressure a typical .44 (not the thicker walled Dragoon or Walker) is designed to handle?

The Lyman folks used a repro 1851 Colt and a repro 1860 Colt for pressure measurements. Each revolver was modified by drilling a hole through the side of the cylinder and silver-soldering a mechanical gizmo onto the outside of the cylinder (the chamber pressure crushed a lead cylinder). I don't know how the Lead Units of Pressure would translate into "PSI" values.

FWIW, the highest pressure they published for the .44 was 8820 LUP.
