Hello All You Of Knowledge!
I'm checking on a FI Industries .380 out of Washington,DC. Recently spotted one in my local fun shop. Did the search and only came up the possibility that it was probably made by Star, and that it should be a reasonably well made pistol. All steel, blued with wood grips. SA, 1911 style firearm. Very pocketable. Bluing had the usual carry wear. I didn't check into it too closely since I was there for another transfer, though it seemed in about 90% condition in the brief inspection I did. Though it was in this decent condition, it seemed "dry" while doing a quick check on how it operated. Suspecting an estate sale or trade in of a firearm that sat in a drawer for the last 20 years. Didn't have the time to check deeply. Suspect it to be a Colt Pony clone. Price was $299.

So what do you think? Worth buying? On a deeper inspection of course. Just wondering if that price is in the ballpark. It has the features I like. All steel, SA, wood grips, pocketable. I lack a pocket gun with the exception of a NAA Black Widow. And this would follow through with my current carries, FEG Hi Power and an Astra A70.

So what do ya'll say?

Yes, it's a Star Model D .380ACP. I don't know if the price is correct but it's a pretty little gun. I have a Colt Government 380 which is very close in look and safety setup. The Star D was released well before the Colt Government 380, Mustang and Pony, so probably in this case Colts are clones of the Star.

I believe the FI Model D .380 was built by Star in Spain then brought over here and assembled in the US to get around the GCA '68 import ban restrictions on small concealable semi-autos. Found one on Gunbroker in nice condition with an asking price of $450 so $299 sounds pretty reasonable.
