I thought I'd drop by and let my highroad reloading friends know about the newest feature at my site, http://AmmoGuide.com/ - Load List Filters

Sites like AmmoGuide - which has over 13,000 loads now (and still growing!) - have to DISPLAY that information to visitors. We weren't happy flooding our visitors with that much information and just letting them and God sort it out, so we first added PAGING. Visitors could then select how many loads/page they wanted to see. But not good enough.

We just added Load List Filters. When viewing a round that has posted loads, some "filter controls" automagically appear allowing the viewer to customize the load list. For example, one can have the thing list only those loads that...

- use Hodgdon powders (or any other vendors)
- use Sierra bullets (or any other vendors)
- use Hodgdon powders and Sierra bullets (or any other vendors)
- use H-4350 and 150 gr. bullets (or any other powders/bullet weights)
- were added within the last 6 months... etc

To see Load List Filters in action, try some rounds like the .223 Remington (5.56mm NATO) (which has over 700 loads posted!). I've always believed our computers should be doing the work for us. :)

Great time to be a reloader, isn't it?

You will need to explain to me why I need to register or join another web site to improve my reloading library (skills). Not sure I need to do this as I am a member (in good standing) of THR and several other sites. Any information or questions I need answered I can get here or my other sites that I'm a member of. Not to mention the magazines that I subscribe to...Waiting for your answer....The Bushmaster... One and Only.

I don't know anything about posting rules on THR, but I would prefer that advertisements be marked as advertisements in some way.

Thanks for the kudos and sorry if I offended anyone. I've been posting on forums, and THR is one of my most visited, about AmmoGuide for years, since it was a free Java utility with 90 rounds and no reloading data. I did include that graphic from my newsletter and guess that does look like an ad. But I only posted that message here and my other "favorite" forum, calguns.net - no attempt at "spamming" intended.

Sure. Simple. (and thanks for asking - I appreciate the opportunity to expound)

Realize that AmmoGuide has 3 levels of access:
- DEMO (no login required, most limited - just click on http://AmmoGuide.com/),
- FREE MEMBER (free registration, more of the site opens up to free members) and
- PAID SUBSCRIBERS (it's all there for a low annual fee - AND FOR LESS THAN OTHER PAY RELOADING SITES THAT DO FAR LESS.)

As far as why it's worth paying for - I'll mention briefly that the site has 600+ cartridges and 13,000+ loads and lets you keep a personal "Favorites" list of those you find particualrly useful. But mostly, AmmoGuide does things you can't do anywhere else. No brag, just fact. Some examples...

First, AmmoGuide visuals are exceptional. The site runs the ONLY graphics engine specifically designed to draw cartridges in real-time (not static images like GIFs and JPGs). That allows you you do many things with the images other sites only dream of. Visually compare (up to 8) rounds side-by-side with an onscreen accuracy of .01 inches and an optional metric or SAE ruler as a backdrop. Case diagrams for every round with simulated brass renderings including the case head. Scaled, paged collages of all 600+ rounds in the Cartridge Master List.

Second - the interactive toolset - unmatched anywhere. I like to say No Other Website Compares to AmmoGuide... or LIKE AmmoGuide. This little 2 minute animation mentions 3 of them...

The Ballistic Comparison Tool actually averages all available load data to allow visitors to compare ballistics of rounds (or even individual loads) - complete with graphs. (Remington has or had a tool that selectively lists their factory ammo on one page for comparison, but of course it's only Remington factory ammo and it's just a simple "load lister" with no real-time calculation functions. Better than most but not CLOSE to what AmmoGuide does.) I already mentioned the Visual Comparison Tool above. The Ballistic Calculator Tool calculates trajectories. The Cartridge Identification and Search Tool allows you to enter case dimensions, capacities or partial names and outputs all the rounds that match - it often uniquely identifies "mystery" cartridges and can reveal dimensional reltionships between rounds like nobodies business. The Cartridge Creator Tool is how you can enter case dimensions to submit new rounds to AmmoGuide (like your own wildcat) - but many people just like to use it to enter dimensions and see what their "creation" looks like.

And then there's the INTERACTIVITY - all the tools are tightly integrated to work together. For example, if you have selected a set of rounds (up to 8 at once) for ballistic comparison, you can pop into the visual comparison tool to view 'em all - side-by-side - with a single click. (or vice versa - bounce from visual to ballistic comparison instantaneously.) The Ballistic Calculator Tool interfaces directly with the loads - each load has a "Trajectory" button - AmmoGuide will even try to look up the BC of the bullet in use so you don't have to. But you just have to spend some time on the site to really appreciate how much better it is than other sites.

Of course, there's a forum (smaller than THR's, which is an incredible resource, AmmoGuide is NOT trying to compete there - it's only on reloading and shooting but my users love ours too), articles, newsletter, etc. I could go on and on but I think this gives the flavor. All I can ask is to take a serious look.

AmmoGuide has been my personal labor of love for about 15 years now - I've programmed every line of code in it - and I ain't done yet. Hope you like it. I really try to keep the price reasonable.

Lastly... now THIS is an ad... :)
