After buying 12 other autoloaders...I finally bought a Springfield Mil-Spec.

My buddy who has one that I've used a few times asked if it was a "spur of the moment purchase".

I told him...nah...I just had put it off long enough :D.

250 rounds through it this weekend and I love the thing. Stone cold reliable so far...I'm shooting it low...think I'm overcompensating trying to fight through the recoil...had some good targets and some awkward ones...need to get used to how it breaks...how much to let it flip without limping it. I really enjoy it though. I've been pretty much a niner guy...have 5 of them...plus some back up guns (.380 and 9x18's)...3-40's (all Glocks)...and of course, my CZ52 in 7.62 Tok'.

I didn't really want to take on another caliber...but after shooting it...I wish I'd done it sooner. This is going to be much fun.

I put the Hogue wrap-arounds on it...have similar grips on my CZ-75's and love them...very comfortable "familiar" feel while shooting the 1911 with them.

Bought a Galco paddle...very nice...found a terrific leather belt-slide double mag pouch in a "catch-all bin" for $12...grabbed all the misc' laying around 1911 mag's I could find (7-7's and a stray Wilson Combat 8)...ordered 4 8-round Chip McCormick's...can't have too many mags :D.

What can I say, I'm a happy camper.

Best wishes,

CZ52,

I've had my first 1911 for less than a year after shooting handguns for almost 20 years. I'm very happy with mine and shoot it better than anything else I own from the first range session with it. (I keep asking myself why I waited so long.) Congrats and good luck!

Thanks Jim

I expect my accuracy will improve over time...like many range sessions with a new gun...I have this bad habit of "chasing the bulls-eye".

What I need to do (and sometime I'll actually do it), is shoot it consistently for several strings...make small adjustments...and I'll be happier.

My "enthusiasm" always seems to get the best of me the first time out...usually by the 3rd or 4th session, I figure out what the gun needs and end up shooting it up to my limitations...which hopefully will be less and less as time goes by.

Thanks again,

I caught the 1911 fever about a year ago. One 1911 will not cure it. Gunshop won't let me handle them any more because I rusted two or three up salivating over them.
