I bought my first gun in almost a year and a half.

Anyone who knows me knows that, while I may suggest polymer guns from time to time, I don't like them for me. To me a gun should be metal, not plastic.

Well, I've given in to the dark side.

I even considered a Glock. There is a shop near here that has used Glock 26s for around $460. For here that isn't half bad (new Glocks are over $600). Still, I really don't like Glocks so I couldn't quite do that.

About 1 1/2 hours ago I put down about a 70% deposit on a Taurus Millennium Pro. I am a 9mm fan so I almost got the stainless PT111 they had for $375, but I ended up buying a blue PT140 for $325. The trigger is of course long and heavy, but I was surprised how much better it seemed than the older Millennium series. I like blue better than stainless for a gun that I'm going to carry (when I can carry- i.e. when I'm in PA) as it isn't as flashy so I figured for $50 less I'd give the .40S&W another chance (my last .40S&W was sold about 2 years ago).

Anyway, I can't wait for the darned waiting period to be over so I can take it home

does this mean the BHP is now permanently out of the frame!?

Not necessarily. My downpayment was $200. I still owe just under $150 with tax. I get paid again in a couple days. I am doing this without going into my bonus money at work (it is money left over since it has been about a month since I've been on a date). So still, depending upon how much my bonus is, and whether RM has that used FN HP left when I get it, I may get that in addition (as for the one gun a month rule, I'm sure he wouldn't mind holding onto it for a couple extra weeks after making the deal). Hey, it has been almost a year and a half since my last gun, but when I last bought I picked up 3 in just a couple weeks (one revolver and two rifles).

The waiting period is over. I got a call from the gunshop today at lunch. I was "not disapproved" (MD will not "approve" you for a handgun, can't "approve" a peon for a handgun, you are either "disapproved" or "not disapproved"- got to love it :banghead: ). Anyway, I will be picking it up today after work, stopping at Walmart on the way to get some WWB value packs and some WWB JHPs for it of course.

I'll probably quickly strip it down, wipe it off, and re-oil it and then start shooting (assuming I don't get stuck at work). I'll be sure to report back with how it went.

Chaim,

LMK how you make out with the Millennium Pro at the range. I currently have a Taurus PT-92 AFS 9mm (stainless) made in 1992 or '93 and I really like it but I would like to see how it stacks up to the new ones. Its accurate and I've never had a malfunction of any kind. It likes ball or HP ammo from any manufacturer though it seems to have a preference for COR-BON.

I would like to get another Taurus but I think it might be in 45 acp. rather than 40 cal. Guess I'll have to look into the Millennium series better! If this new series is as good as the other pistols they've made I'll be happy.

Sounds like you've got a good start with your Millenium! About 8-9 years ago I bought a new Para-Ordnance P-12 45acp that I experienced problems with right out of the box! It was good for the first or maybe second round before it had a FTE or a stovepipe. It would reliably "malfunction"! LOL

I bought it new locally in Glen Burnie. When I went back to the dealer he tried blaming me for the malfunction. It was returned for a refund at which time I got a new Colt Combat Commander. The Colt went "BANG" every time.

When I went to pick up the Colt I was asked by the salesman if I would want the Para back since it was now "repaired". It turned out that the extractor was bad according to the dealer.

It sounds like you made out all around with your Taurus! It was affordable at a great price, accurate, reliable, and you really like it! You can't beat that!!
