Ever since I started shooting I have had individual cases for each of my guns. Going to the range has always meant carrying a handful of awkward gun cases and sometimes two or more trips to the car.

For several years I have been searching for a solution to this headache and I stumbled on what I think is the perfect solution - the CaseCruzer Magnum 6-Pack. It comes from CPD Industries, the people who make Pelican cases. DISCLAIMER: I do NOT represent this company in any way!

I have been eyeing various CaseCruzers for over a year now and I always balked at the cost. I finally decided to take the plunge earlier this year and sent an e-mail to CPD asking for details on several models. I have a wide range of handguns with barrel lengths ranging from 2" to 8" on my standard models. Many of my guns have barrels over 5" and this would make the Magnum case the obvious decision, but I was worried my smaller sub-compacts would not fit in the case.

To my surprise, I received a reply from a woman in CPD's engineering department the next day!:what: She suggested I buy the Magnum case based on my requirements and included an offer for a removable insert to accommodate my sub-compacts - at NO additional cost no less! All I needed to do was provide the dimensions of my sub-compact pistols, which I did.

She got back to me almost one week later to tell me the design of the insert was complete. At this point I had not paid any money or committed in any way to the case, so I was very surprised at the turnaround. Several more e-mails were exchanged and finally a phone call with the engineer to confirm all the details.

The case finally arrived yesterday after a two week wait. It's a little heavier than I expected (18 lbs), but it has wheels, so it's not too bad. The first thing I did was load the case up with my biggest (and most expensive:uhoh:) handguns, close the lid and shake it hard. The guns didn't make a sound, in fact when I opened the case again, they didn't appear to have moved at all.

There are some definite downsides to the Magnum case though. As mentioned, it is somewhat heavy empty and very bulky. The cost is also significant - $340. There are many shooters who don't have many long handguns and this case would not make much sense to them. Another downside to this case is its size (dimensions are about 23" x 19" x 11.5"). It is somewhat awkward to actually pick up, but thankfully the case doesn't weigh much more when fully loaded with guns.

In conclusion, the case is a good buy and the people I dealt with at CPD were nothing short of fantastic. The cost is a bit of a shocker, but when you consider the dollar value of the cargo inside I think it works out. The biggest plus is the convenience of going to the range now (or anywhere else)!

Further details to follow after I take the case to the range. I can get more pictures or test the case further - within reason - upon request.

That IS pretty neat. My solution has been to buy soft cases for each gun. That way I can fit them all into my range bag. The boxes the guns came in never ever get used again. Just stacked up in my closet haha.

The $340 cost is way too high for someone like me. My solution to this would be to buy a regular pelican case and cut foam to fit the same number of guns.
Thanks for sharing though. If I was flush with cash I would grab a case like that in a heartbeat.

The regular version of this case costs $280 with a solid block of foam - still way up there. I agree, the Magnum case has a limited market, which is partly why I posted a review on it. There isn't that much info out there for it, so hopefully this helps someone else down the road.

UPDATE: I took the case along with me today while at the trap range loaded with a handful of guns (the case was just there for testing purposes). It turns out a 3" 1911 will fit just fine in the cutouts provided, allowing other guns such as J-frames and smaller subcompacts to be placed in the custom cutout.

I deliberately loaded myself down with shotguns and gear to see if I could still manage this case without resorting to the towing handle and wheels. This was done to ensure the case was still easy to handle when moving up/down stairs or around obstacles (it is). I have a new range bag coming sometime next week which should simplify everything further.
