So after a year of reading threads and scanning reviews and quite a bit of reading 1911Tuner's advice (even before I joined I was reading posts by googling 1911 reviews) I finally got me a 1911. I will have pics soon...
Tuner will be glad to know that it is a fullsize.
It's a Norinco frame and slide and everything else has been replaced with Wilson parts. Wilson barrel, combat sites ( 3 dot glow in the dark), skeletonized bobbed hammer, skeletonized trigger with a 3-4# pull, light and crisp, beavertail grip safety, slide safety, combat mags, belevled magazine well, a "memory" something or other... I forgot what it was, and a FLGR. I will need to ask about how to remove the FLGR later.
Not a bad setup for 550$ eh?
I put 50 rounds of 230 grain FMJ through it and it is much more accurate than me. I had to get used to the light trigger but I think it will spoil me. had a FTF because the mag wasn't flush, that was the only hiccup.

So now I'd like reccomendations for a IWB holster if ya'll know any good ones. The Uncle Mikes size 5 just seemed "thick" for IWB.

Also, what do ya'll think of my purchase?~Nathan

I don't know. :uhoh:

Post some pics and it may change my mind, but I think $550 places you firmly in the barely used Kimber and Colt category, and in the new Springfield category.

sounds like you did your homework on this one, you did good, not a Springfield but I'll forgive you:evil: . a FLGR are pretty easy to remove, just unscrew the front half, pull it out, then use something like the bottom of a mag to depress the plunger and twist the bushing out of the way, unless its a tight fit then use a bushing wrench. just becareful, the plunger is under a bit of pressure and will go flying if you let it, I had mine leave an impression in my bedroom ceiling.

as far as holsters go, I'm waiting on a McDaniels from Andrewsleather, so I don't really have any advise for you on that front yet, although others will chime in with their favorite holsters. just make sure you get a good belt with the holster.

Look at their C.TAC. It's good stuff. I carry my 5" 1911 in one daily. I'm not a thick guy at all, about a 33 waist. Conceals just fine. It retains the pistol well, and it does not shift at all when sitting/standing/walking. It spreads the weight out quite well, and is quite thin with the offset belt hooks. Es guud.

Sounds like you got a good purchase. Just run the crap out of it now!

1911's Are Contagious!~

So......when do you plan to buy your second 1911? ;)

Sounds like a decent deal with the mods. I picked up a bare-bones stock Norinco just a few weeks ago and really enjoy it. Despite having four Colt 1911s, I shoot my Rock Island Armory and my Norinco more than the others. I'm extremely surprised at the accuracy and reliability of these "cheap" handguns. I'd buy another stock Norinco or RIA before I'd ever even consider buying a new or used Kimber. :neener:

The $550 might be close to the used Kimber or SA prices, but with all the extra's you got I figure you got a good deal. Possibly better than having a name gun without the extra's. I'm not a Nork fan, but I know plenty of folk that have them and like them. The slide is hard and will last forever.

To carry cocked and locked, (THE ONLY WAY)

Being a big Nork fan, With all that customization I think you did good. Plain Norks are going for $400 or more now. Let us know how it shoots.
