Well, I've been slowly building my handgun collection (can't afford to buy more than about one per year) and the next on my list was a 9mm. I had been looking at several different models, but I've been wanting a Sig for a long time. So when I saw the P225 advertised in the most recent CDNN catalog, I decided it was finally time to pull the trigger, so to speak.
I've been leery about trying to order something that way, but when I called CDNN to see if there were any FFLs on file in my area, they gave me a rather long list, surprisingly. Happily, the pawn shop that I bought my last handgun from was on the list and their transfer fee was only $20. So my "Like new with Night Sights" Sig P225 cost me a total of $429.99. A pretty good deal, I think. I picked it up on Friday (ordered Tuesday evening) and the whole transfer process took about ten minutes (I have a CCW license, so no telephoned background check.) I couldn't believe it. That was by far the easiest handgun purchase I've ever made.
The pistol is in excellent condition, although there is what looks like a tiny bit of wear in the finish on the top of the slide in one small spot. The night sights don't seem as bright as the ones in my Springfield .45, but oh well. It came with a blue Sig hard plastic case, but unfortunately only one magazine. If anyone knows where I might find some more for a decent price, please let me know.
I took it to the range yesterday, and thoroughly enjoyed putting 100 rounds through it. Once I got used to the trigger, I was hitting pretty well with it. I would have shot it more, but I had almost all of my pistols with me and a friend of mine had a couple more, so I had to split time since it's been a while since I've been to the range. I can definitely tell that I'm getting a much better idea of what I like in a handgun now because the last couple I've gotten work much better for me than the first ones I bought.
