Nothing special, your run of the mill Model 1895 blued with 22" barrel, brand new for $520.

Seems that the company has fixed its quality control issues, no evident defects, finish imperfections or canted sights...it looks perfect.

Just wanted to share

It will be soon scoped.

Regards

520? not bad. i got hard up for cash when i first got married since the Air Force messed up both of our pay. ended up selling mine to a pawn shop to pay rent:fire::cuss:

i think they gave me 450 for a beat up one.

btw i cant see the pic

I have a Marlin 45-70 too. Have not shot it yet. But I am starting to reload so I am getting my 270 and 243 set up to load with Noslter/Hornady bullets and then play with the 45-70.

Nothing like tossing lead ingots down range. You will like it very much if you reload.

If you do not reload this is the caliber that will convince you to start lol.

I am so on the fence about getting one of these. I have no "use" for one, but I have always wanted a Guide Gun. Something compact that puts enough thump down range to handle anything I might stumble across.

saturno_ v: My Son and I have been shooting 1895 Marlin`s in 45-70 for many years now, and enjoy them more everytime we shoot them. They are just great gun`s to hunt with or to shoot at the Cowboy Action Shoots we go to sometimes. The 45/70 Cal in just great also, it will do about anything you could want it to do with factory loads . And it is very easy to reload for also, in both light and heavy loads. And Your Marlin 1895 45/70 will shoot either very well.

Marlin 1895G

I bought one of the new Remington made Marlins as well. No doubt they put out some bad ones but they have also built some nice rifles. My "MR" 1895G Guide Gun .45-70 with a vintage El Paso steel tube Weaver K2.5.

Another pic of it next to my "JM" 444P Outfitter with 1.5-4.5x Leupold.

Very nice saturno_v, congrats.

I noticed the fellow shooting in the lane next to me yesterday had a Marlin 45/70 SBL rifle. We got to talking, he too just bought it new. It appeared to be very well made based on a cursory inspection, he is rightfully quite proud to own it.

I think maybe Marlin has, or is turning the corner on their QC issues, good for them, and for us.

I've got a newer Marlin 45-70 guide gun and I love it. Absolutely no quality issues whatsoever. I load everything from monster loads to "the wife wants to shoot it" loads and it's great. Only time I throw more lead is with my .50 bmg Bushmaster

Has anyone had issues w not being able to gain enough rear sight elevation? I have the lowest front sight available but a 405 lead bullet strikes 6 inches low at 30 yards.

This is my new GBL. It has a Bushmell shotgun scope on it now and I like it so far.
