It's been touch and go between me and the RA 223 compact. Lots of wasted ammo and a couple of trips back to Ruger but it's a well mannered winner in my book.

50 rounds down range today and I couldn't be happier. No malfunctions to speak of and the action is running like silk on ball barrings.

Mine has a tight short throat so it prefers hand loads. Since I wanted it to shoot cheap Monarch steel cased ammo that was a problem. They were too long. After brain storming this delima the answer finally came about. Took a box of Monarch. Ran it through a seating die and set the bullet back just a nudge and BANG!... Instant cheap ammo. Shoots pretty good too.

What is an RA 223? Ruger American, Robinson Arms (like an XCR in a compact configuration), something else? I asked google, but it informed me that RA 223 is the abbreviation and atomic number for Radium.

^ ha... It is a Ruger American. The group was shot at 100 yards.

Not That I'm recommending anyone try this. But it has worked for me with no signs of over pressure whatesoever.

I'm guessing a transposed "R" & "A", that he meant AR 556, Ruger's entry level AR.
