I got my tax return back and decided that since I have a lack of black rifles in my collection so far , zero, I would correct that.

I had my local shop put a Colt 16" post ban aside for me and I would pick it up today. i went in to get it and as I was talking to the owner he showed me a brand new in the box never been fired pre ban Colt Sporter model. When I asked how much he quoted me a price I couldn't refuse. Don't ask it was a good deal.

So I walked out the pround papa of a new AR-15 :D

:D :D :D

I am happy if you couldn't tell. Now the next question is whether or not to leave it as is or start buying accessories. That is when I have money again.

I was told to leave mine alone for while - and I'm glad I did - I love mine. Armalite AR-15A2 20" BBL.

Congrats and Happy Shooting.

Face it... you will NEVER have money again :D

Do yourself a BIG favor though... Never, and I mean NEVER go over to www.ar15.com !!! Those guys will have you wanting to spend $200 to make it a Short Barrelled Rifle, or $500 on a pistol caliber upper, or $750 on a Trijicon scope, or $3000 to make it full-auto... It just never ends!

Congratulations on your purchase! I sincerely hope that everyone's "post-ban" rifles become "just plain rifles" again soon, because there are just more options for goodies on a pre-ban. I wish I could afford a second one, since I can't make up my mind how I want mine configured.

Congratulations on the purchase of your new "black rifle", Hawkeye755.:)

You need to add accessories...>>>

Thanks Schuey that was the last thing I needed to see:D

The damage has been done though. I have already been to AR15.com. I suppose I will have to get a colapsable stock, then a short barrel, then optics, and then my wife will kill me if she hasn't already by this point. :uhoh:

Is it a bad sign that I took the day off work so I can clean it and go shoot?

Not that I have been thinking about it much,.......but.....

It would look awful good with a S.I.R. on it, a colapsable stock, Trijicon tri power, ARMS # 40 folding rear sight, Surefire Millenium vertical foregrip, 16" barrel with Vortex flash suppressor.

The 37mm flare launcher does look good.

Just a few things off the top of my head that I may do. Not like I have been thinking about it much

:D

............it's not post-ban with that milspec flash supressor

nice rifle, enjoy
I'ts just like the rack grade stuff we had in the Army and does not 'need' any stuff added to be a great rifle.

GOOD JOB!!! Now go out and shoot the crap out of it . You will have a ball. I have a Bushmaster Shorty and love it!

I got a good start. Now all I need is some warmer weather, or no snow :cuss: snow.

A little off hand practice.:D

I started having bootcamp flashbacks. I have bben watching too much Mail Call.

"you are shooting low and to the right MAGGOT"

I can't wait for warmer weather.

See, you're already thinking like an AR-aholic!

I didn't need to see Schuey2002's rifle either... I've been eying the "new" collapsible stock design, and man that Aimpoint looks good!

There is a new stock that is supposed to be available in the next couple months. I believe it is called the Crane stock. I have seen pictures of it and really like the design. they have pictures and information of it here

Since I can't afford any accessories yet I am going to watch and see how much it is. If anyone has had the oppertunity to see, use, touch one I would appreciate any additional info.

Dude: Read Hawkeye's first post again, he was going to buy a 16" postban, but got offered a great deal on the preban Sporter. Colt chopped bayonet lugs starting in like 89, but its still a preban.
