I didn't realize it has taken this long to actually get back to the range to test these. This is a followup to; https://www.thehighroad.org/index.php?threads/new-lee-200gr-rnfp-mold.863503/ , as a refresher these are to replace the 200gr SWC that just refused to work in either of my 45acp's.

I made two separate castings and loadings, one with COWW lead and one with really soft range scrap lead. These are all seated to 1.110 and loaded into R*P brass with large S&B primers and Accurate AA#2 powder at 5.0gr...

First a basic report. The Witness loves them and the XD Mod2 hates them. Upon first firings I sincerely believe I need to reduce the powder charge. But this was the closest I could come to finding any data. I think the extreme depth that I am at is making a huge difference. The XD Mod2 didn't like then at all. First round stove piped against the top of the chamber and pushed the second round nose down into the mag. After that they all chambered better but the target looked like I was doing a shot gun test pattern. I think this loading is much too short for this gun.

As for the difference between alloy material. I really couldn't see a difference from just off hand shooting.

So at least I have a 50% improvement in that at least one gun likes these. The other gun not sure yet as I really do not want to load the same round at two different lengths so I may just go back to plated for the XD. Next step is to start loading down instead of up!

I just came across a load for a 225gr Lead RN Lyman bullet that has a starting weight of only 4.0gr of AA#2. So I might load some down to 4.5gr and see what happens.

I have the target from today so if I can I will post up a picture.
