Finally, The Right Grips

I have had 3 or 4 sets of grips on my old Highway Patrolman. It came to me wearing its original beat up Magnas. Didn’t care for the way it felt. Bought some Thai, target grips. Still a no go. Altamont target grips… nope. I have a set of Altamont Batteleur grips on my 625 I like, but they are round butt so I couldn’t just swap to see. Got a used set and tried them out. Figured I could sell them if they don’t work.
Tried them out and found that they are the ones. Looks good too.

I am glad you found something that suits you. Over the years it took five different sets to make my Smith 19 feel like I wanted. They are ugly rubber but oh so nice in my hand.

Spent a lot of $ in my search.
Once I found the RB Combat grip, I never looked further.
It's like I gripped a lump of clay, and someone carved stocks from that clay.... perfect for my med/large hand.

I find S&W target grips suit me well enough on an N-frame.

I know you said you tried some Thai grips, but this guy does some pretty good combat copies, for not a lot more than the Altamonts.

The Thai grips I tried on it were very similar to Target Grips.
For my 4 inch, K & L frames I really like these grips which are also from Thailand



Those were all in the $35-45 range, 3-5 years ago

I know what it’s like to search for the right grips. I had just about given up when a member here posted about Altamont Ropers. I bought a set for my model 19-4 and liked them so I bought them for my 17-3. My model 25-15 came from S&W with Altamont’s as well.
