I love what I call the "blacksmithed" guns. I have a picture in Antique Arms magazine of a cut dow 1860 colt that had the grips made like yours. Almost a birdhead type.

I'm in the process of cutting down the barrel of an older '58 Pietta to match an original hideout gun I saw once. Where did you get the dovetail sight, it's exactly like the one I want.

Coyote Hunter I traded for this one a few days ago, but I will try and find out where the guy got the front sight.

dispatch, You might want to wrap the guns in common brown paper bag, paper if you store these guns on that egg shell foam.

I live in NH, where it is humid, and pretty much assume Ky is as humid.

Where ever that egg shell touches metal will be prone to surface rust, which means stains you won't get off very easy.

Don't ask how I know.... :-(

You don't need to 'oil' the paper but it won't hurt.

Coyote Hunter, I am not sure about the way the ft site is mounted on a remmy, but with a little metal working skill soldering, you can probably make a ft site from a number of things.

Brass and or sterling silver come to mind.

If there is a dovetail it would be easy to slice a slot in a silver dove tail bar and solder in a blade.

If there is a half moon cut then all you need is a blade and stake the blade in place.

The blade should be a bit to tall causing the point of impact to be too low, and you would dress it as you shot, to hit where you wanted, some point higher.

Only mentioning this because I see you asked twice.
