Find a cheap sks ? ? ?

The best way to find a cheap SKS would be to first acquire a time machine.

Sometimes you'll see SKS in cheap aftermarket stocks for less (and sometimes more for some odd reason), but if you want the rifle in original configuration it's going to cost you. The days of crates of cosmoline soaked SKS for $80 are long over. That said, I have seen prices level off and in some cases drop just a bit here locally since the Big Scare.

Cheap and SKS in the same sentence, big surprise. I would advise to stay away an SKS or AK and save your money to buy something a little more reliable. Somehint that you hit what you shoot at the first time. Unless you are in a war zone you are responsible for every round you put down range.

The SKS was probably the best bang for the buck around for quite awhile, and probably still is even at $250+

Paun shops...

Hard to find under $150 (Only way I did that reciently was selling the acessories)

Under $200 for a Norinco is very doable.

Pretty much. I remember about a decade ago, $69.95 at one of the local shops, he had crates upon crates of Yugo's. I never bought any, because I really hate the Simonov and only have a '54 Tula laminate because it's an essential part of the mil-surp collection.

Today, wish I'd bought a few crates and sat on them until last year. I'd be sittin' pretty now. Of course, same goes for .223 ammo when American Eagle was $169/case.

Yeah, you could find Yugos all over for $150-180 a couple years ago but no more. Today you'll have to check out pawn shops and classifieds and hope for good luck.

I just got a Yugo 59/66 for $185 after shipping/transfer off gunbroker. It was a rebuilt one, though. Still a shooter, too.

It was definitely the first time I saw a sub-200 SKS of any kind in the past four years. Good luck. Average is about 270-550 now, depending on condition, etc.

from somebody who bought one in the 90's, doesn't want it anymore, and has no idea what current market value is.

Just got back from the local gunshow; nice minty Norinco SKS-$350 asking price. Nice minty Norinco AK-$749 asking price.

$150? Not happening. You could have found a norinco for that price spring 08 but not after the election.

The cheapest I have found is about $240 for a matching numbers norinco in the last couple of months. The SKS is a fine semi-auto rifle which shoots a proven round for stopping a threat in combat if needed.

I would recommend pawn shops for sk's and always ask for the out the door price, they will negotiate in most cases, if they don't walk. Good hunting!

"I would advise to stay away an SKS or AK and save your money to buy something a little more reliable." Funny.
