i have a pair of nice fully checkered walnut slabs for my 1911 that i've just stained with dark walnut. they turned out pretty nice but the finish is too glossy for my taste. i haven't used anything on top of the stain at all. to back up a little, they were a regular walnut finish, which i initially used tru oil on to seal them up. before this stain i used some denatured alcohol to cut the tru oil and then applied the dark walnut stain. is there anything i can do to turn the finish to more of a satin??
thanks for any suggestions
