Ok, so I'm refinishing an Encore rifle stock. I did the forfend first, which was a much lighter wood than the buttstock. I stained it with dark walnut stain as dark as I could then applied several coats of minwax tung oil. I'm happy with the way it looks. Next I stripped down the buttstock and then applied the same stain followed by the first coat of tung oil. The butt ended up much darker and I'm thinking it would match the forend better if I had just used the tung oil with no stain. How do I remove the tung oil and stain? Can I use the same minwax stripper I used the first time around? Will it strip the minwax tungoil?
