I think that I have finished my mods on my Benelli MR1.

In Canada we can only take our AR rifles to certified rifle ranges ie. they are Restricted Firearms. The MR1 is non restricted in Canada so I can take it anywhere and shoot it anywhere that it is legal to shoot ie. public land.

I had the barrel shortened by Dlask Arms from 20" to 18.5" (our legal minimum) and the barrel threaded for one of their XB6 flash hiders. It works well and even hot Norinco ball has greatly reduced muzzle flash compared to the bare 20" barrel.

I wanted to keep the iron sights which are zeroed at 50 yards. I went with a cheapy NcStar 1" QD mount (it's working well) with a Redfield Revolution 2x7 variable with the AccuRange reticle. It's zeroed at 100 yards and shoots to POA at 200 yards using the AccuRange reticle, no holdover required.

100 yards off the bench with Norinco ball, 1 round per second. I yipped the bottom shot but didn't call it.

200 yards off the bench, slow fire.

I angled mounted a TRS-25 red dot and sighted it in at 25 yards. It is fast and accurate.

The fllashlight is a 960 lumen Fenix PD35 in a Fenix mount. The tape switch is attached on the right side of the forend with "tactical" duct tape. This light turns night into day.

I have it slung with 5.11 2 point sling with a picatiny rail QD front mount.

Overall it is a very reliable, clean shoot rifle which I don't have to clean very often.

I for one think the Benelli MR1 is a seriously underrated rifle. Bear in mind that the OP has to live with some pretty strict regulation in Canada. Nice workaround. The light mount isn't exactly elegant but it looks like it gets the job done.

In an effort to lighten up the front of the rifle I got rid of the red dot, angle mount and picatinny sling mount.

I swapped the Dlask X6 flash hider for an A2 birdcage.

It feels lighter now and the PD35 960 lumen light is now mounted at 9 o'clock.
