Am somewhat new to wheelgun shooting and went for my third revolver lesson today. The range only stocked Fiocchi .38 Spec 158gr LRNs for practice and I proceeded to purchase two boxes to feed my rented S&W model 67.
I fired my first 6 rounds single action and all was well....
I shot the next 6 rounds double action and 3 rounds failed to fire.....
I ejected the cartridges and refed the "duds" (which already had a firing pin indentation) back into the revolver. This time I shot them single action and only THEN did they fire.
The next 6 rounds were shot single action and this time there was one dud. I had to recycle this with another single action pull to get it to go off.
The rest of the lesson was conducted single action with about 1 in 6 rounds needing to be "refired". :banghead:
Are you fellas in the know about any QC problems with fiocchi .38 special ammo? It seems that at least one batch has rather HARD primers which defy revolver strikers.
