Reminds me of the Monster Quest episode they ran on a creature (reputedly) in Wisconsin call "Dogman":

Dunno - if I saw this guy strolling along at night it would be strictly "shoot first ask questions later" proposition. With my 686+ - although a 12 ga would be better.

As an aside - there used to be reports of a similiar creature in Michigan, but those have gotten scarcer last couple of years. Right about the time Michagan went "shall issue".

Whats a self respecting monster gonna do eventually? Learn to speak Canadian?

12 ga. would do the trick. It will slay anything that isnt far away and armed with a rifle.

OK they called the episode vampire beast were the "victims" drained of all their blood or what ?
None of the victims were drained of blood, although IIRC, they were all killed by attacking the throat and there was a substantial amount of blood loss. one of the pit bulls was gutted and most of his innards eaten.

To me it seemed like they were trying to sensationalize it by calling it a vampire beast.

I was pretty impressed that it could take down that many pit bulls and other dogs without the dogs and their neighborhood friends making a fuss. That takes some real talent. i could understand it being able to take out a dog silently, but unless the pit bull was killed instantly, I would think it would put up enough of a fight to wake up other dogs in the area, and they specifically said that had not happened.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks these things. I caught a MQ show earlier in the week when I had insomnia and watch a rancher patrol him property at night with a spotlight and a .30 carbine loaded with JHP for what MAY have been a Jaguar! Not sure about you, but I'd want something larger for a Jag then .30 carbine HP's.

I realize the chance of getting the drop on a Jag that has dialed you in as “has falvur” is really slim, but .30 carbine????

Why would you kill it when you can capture it and sell tickets to folks who'd want to see it? You could make a fortune on that thing that would keep you well supplied in guns and ammo (can you say Class 3 toys!).

Of course if it becomes aggressive and charges you'd want a back up weapon like a taser to ensure stopping power until the drug takes effect.

Thirdly, if all else fails you'll need some personal protection like a .44 magnum, an M60 or an RPG in the event that the first two aren't effective and the vampire beast is only angered by the first two. :D

I would want something bigger, but anyone who has the brass ones to go out at night after a big cat like that can use his bare hands as far as I am concerned. me, I think i will stay inside where the cat is unlikely to want to eat me. if I go after it, he may decide I look pretty tasty.

M1A and dual 1911's for backup. Ka-Bar USMC fighting knife for the really desperate struggle if I managed to deplete all 100 rounds of .308 and 30+ rounds of .45 without neutralizing the threat.

Forget the guns,

From whati am reading, no gun is going to tame this beast. Someone should try making friends with it. Try these

well, what if it's a chupacabra?

That's ridiculous. Chupacabras are in the Midwest and Latin America; they rarely come to NC.

Silver bullets in any good stopping caliber may work, as some legends state that they're good against vampires as well as werewolves, but put holy water, garlic, and crosses on them too, just in case. I would suggest making wooden bullets to act as a sort of stake, but those would probably explode upon impact and not penetrate to the heart.

Despite nearly every state agency in NC/SC denying their existence, their stories are sharply contrasted by numerous books and probably thousands of eyewitness accounts from farmers and hunters confirming that there are puma/cougars here.

There's also a popular rumour that it's Wildlife Management's doing; that they were released in the area in the 60's by the gubbmint. I dunno about that one, but it's real popular.

Simple and relatively cheap Vampire beast killing rounds can be made by most. Go on ebay and buy cheap silver rosaries. Take them to a church and have the rosaries blessed. Then simply destrand the silver prayer beads and gut a few 12 gauge shotgun shells. Replace buck shot with blessed silver beads. You can even add a bit of mashed up garlic for added effectiveness. :neener:

Why do people always think PitBulls are tough and not be killed by other animals? You always here about Ooooo I bet a pitbull can take it this and that. nonsense. Pitbulls on average arent the strongest dogs in the canine world. In fact I think the German Shepard and Rottweiler have stronger bites than the pitts.
As for the comment on a 150lb pitbull having a chance I call Nonsense. Cats are way more flexible and agile than dogs. Dogs are pretty much useless with their back and front legs while fighting. The Claws on the Cougars front and back feet ALONE is all it would need against any type of dog.

Plus, I've seen cattle skulls with Jaguar bites through them. Bulls.

150-lbs of Jaguar vs. 800 -1500 pounds of bull ended with a bite through the head.

That's a combination of agility, precision and strength that pit bulls wish they were born with.

First of all Pits are pretty strong critters, not necessarily the strongest but real strong, real quick, and REAL agressive. You comments above are like saying that Mike Tyson wasn't really that tough because some 300lbs offensive lineman is stronger than he was! Pits are tough, rough critters, who have been used to hunt hog, bear, and other game for hundreds of years. (I have personally seen pits used as catch dogs on big wild hogs on many occasions, and they are pretty tough customers!)

BTW you are ignoring a couple of points about cats and dogs. Cats run from dogs, big cats included. Cougars are no different, they are very frequently hunted by using a small pack of hounds (often as few as 2 or 3). Look up a little video on big cat hunting and you will see what I mean.) And your typical hound is not even in the ball park with a pit as far as fighting goes. I don't know if a lone 120lb pit could take a cougar or similar size, and if the truth is known few others would either. Very few big cats would attack a big dog unless they were bayed to begin with. It goes against their nature, they are more prone to slip off and run from dogs unless they have little ones or have no other choice, all of which makes me wonder if it was a cougar that attacked them.

I saw that episode as well.

On my ride home tonight, I was with a resident from a small town just outside Bladensboro, Home of the original Vampire Beast of Bladensboro. She had never heard of this creature, probably it has the ability to cloud the mind like the phantom.

With its speed, power and mental abilities, I'd want something in .500 Wyoming Express. 400 gr Bullet at 1,589 ft/s should do it in, if anything will.
