I saw one that was 1 MOA, with iron sights, in 223

Shooting that well at maybe 100 yards is pretty tough on the shooter. I wouldn't be able to tell how well a rifle shot at that distance without a scope these days. Maybe 20 years ago I might have stood a chance but no way now. That's some real shooting.

And of course real quality doesn't come cheap. I know people build some AR's that are mighty accurate. They don't come cheap either. And they don't spend much on making them have classic good looks.

In my LEO days from the mid 80's through early 90's, our department as well as every department in our area required us to carry revolvers. There was not enough faith in the reliability of semi automatics at that time to use as duty guns. I'll let people smarter than me decide whether they were right, but semi automatics are now standard issue for LEO's. I own Glocks, SA's, Sigs, CZs and Rugers, and with one exception which has been corrected, they function flawlessly. I understand this is anecdotal evidence, but assuming the decision makers for our local police departments were correct, it appears as though there has been improvement in the reliability of semi automatics.
