Way back when (maybe in the '60s?) in the uber accurate .22 competitions there was quite the rivalry between the Winchester 52 and the Anschutz 54. Winchester boasted about their Camp Perry results and Anschutz pointed to the Olympics.

Beretta gas driven shotguns vs. Benelli intertia guns. Beretta owns Benelli, but they two companies are completely separate. Benelli did this huge consumer education with intertia guns, but people realized that if you want to go skeet shooting all day they beat the heck out of you. Gas guns are perceived as being finicky with ammo and hard to clean, even though you can get 7 rounds in the air in like a second and a half with one hand, so it's been a real battle. I believe that Beretta is finally going to end the argument with the new Xplor. It eats anything and is easy to clean.
