Why do you think that no firearm manufacturers are primary sponsors for NASCAR teams any more? Money? Remington was and HK/Fabarm sponsored a car. as dedicated as the fans are to a particular driver's sponsors wouldn't it be good business sence/advertising. My guess is it's just to darn expensive now.

There's not a lot of money in the gun industry, and they don't do any main stream advertising as far as I know. They just pretty much stick to print ads in specialty publications.
Although, they do have a lot of product placement in hollywood movies and TV shows

I've wondered about this myself. It seems that the major gun and ammo manufacturers could stand some advertising on a main stream pro-family sport like NASCAR. Yes selling guns to NASCAR fans would be like selling sand to Saudis, but many non-gun owners watch this sport too. And people from all over the world watch it. What better way to promote legitimate use of fireams than to advertise it on a family program to the entire world?
What tiberius said about the lack of money in the gun industry is somewhat true I think, but consider this. If a gun maker puts an add in Shooting Times, its sold to a closed group. On a NASCAR racer it's put out to the world. To me the NASCAR add would be more cost effective.

This is true, but hollywood never protrays good legal gun ownership. With product placement like this the gun makers need all the help they can get.

Ok, Ricky craven is from Maine, so the occasion for his show/display cars up in this area is good. One of the Home Depot stores here always has Stewarts show/display car here when NASCAR WC is in New Hampshire. Granted these appearances cost the location store money. ($3000 last I knew for the car.) How great would it be for firearm manufacturers to sponsor a car/driver and have a mobile display onhand at the tracks or at nearby shops? Just a thought.
